Fighting a lone battle though at the moment. The 2 overseas pros have put on 150 in 31 overs, with power to add...

... and Vitori duly gets Ballance with the second new ball :)

I wonder how many of those runs Wessels & Ballance scored against the Rock's only competent bowlers (Vitori and Panyangara)? Batsmen must be queuing up to bat against Matanga, Masvaure, Munyaradzi and co. Horror stat of the season so far: Hilary Matanga: 6 matches, 111.0 overs, 4 wickets @ 122.50. At least he got his batting av. into double figures in the first innings.

Keep them together for say 3 or 4 years as an elite team in FC to gradually replenish the national team as time goes???

It's a nice/good idea but I think it's better to sort the Rocks out ... they're there to develop cricket in the area, aren't they? ...and they should do so! They are the weakest team but they have a skeleton Taibu, Vermulean, Vitori, Panya to add some meat to when they can

This is what bothers me about our national players and I think its their attitude towards FC. Our 1st team players should CONSISTENTLY dominate local attacks, and at keast one in each team score a tonne in each game/innings.

i like the idea of an academy team of the up and coming.

Don't kill Rocks, just let them have their fair share of imports. The big teams have enough of the good national players, Rocks should have a better chance at getting imports. But Masvingo is the most neglected of the provinces.

I read that Dominus sport was responsible for distributing the international players for the T20, I wonder if that also applies to the Logan cup. what criteria do they use cos Rocks certainly need players and whats the situation with vermuelen?

Don't like the idea at all. At least 6 of those 11 players you named are regulars for their franchises (and Sauramba is close), the others will follow suit in the future, if they have the ability to make the step up. It's best for young players to rub their shoulders with experienced pros, be it national team players or overseas pros, as opposed to the artificial enviroment of an Academy side. Furthermore it would be to the detriment of the franchise system and cricket in general if ZC were to order all young players to withdraw from their teams - where's the incentive for the Mountaineers to develop the likes of Kasuza, if they're taken away from them for 3-4 years? This obviously cannot happen - instead you would end up with a very weak Academy side that gets hammered just as much - wasn't it thus when we had that experiment some while ago?
