T20 World Cup - Zimbabwe v Ireland Match Thread (October 17th)

I'll leave out Chatara. Do you guys think he should play straightaway after such a long lay off?

I'd go with:
Ervine
Regis
Wes
Williams
Raza
Burl
Munyonga
Jongwe
Ngarava
Chatara
Muzarabani
I think Evans is ultimately a better bowler than Jongwe..... But Jongwe offers a point of difference and has been very good at the death in T20's specifically. Muzarabani brings height, Chatara brings experience, Ngarava brings left-arm, Jongwe brings variations. As good and consistent as Evans is, I'm not sure he brings a particular point of difference or anything in T20's. I'd be happy to bring him in in match 2 for whoever underperforms. It's great to have 5 really good seam options.
I'm also going to be really controversial and say I'd give Munyonga a game instead of Shumba. Although I don't think it will happen.

Ya not a bad line up. I'd have Evans in for Ngarava and I'd have him batting after Burl.
I see there's no mandatory covid testing and no isolation if you're positive, you merely have to show you're now negative.
Why haven't people gone to jail for the scam of the century?
The disciples need a public kicking as well.

I'd play Jongwe instead of Shumba but they won't do that.

Chatara can be really really expensive in T20 .his short and wide slower ball tactics can really go for runs ..ngarava offers something different with his left arm ..while jongwe and Evans can really bat ..mazakdaza is a luxury ..we have Williams Raza burl who can be more than decent.

To be honest I'm worried about tomorrow's game, if Zimbabwe win tomorrow, then I'll be very confident of making it to the super 12s, but if they lose, I somehow feel they will go low on confidence.
Ireland have got more power hitters than Zimbabwe and we are not playing on sluggish wickets where Zimbabwe thrive a lot more. These conditions will be more in favor of the Irish.
Anyways let's see..

Surprised to see Munyonga as a definite starter in a lot of these line ups...

Look guys, I'm not sure if it is a good idea to go in with both Blessing and Chatara, both of whom are coming back after injury layoffs.
Blessing has to be selected still because he is a world class bowler and his pace and bounce will be suited for Australian tracks, also you just cannot leave him out for what is the most important game of the group. Selecting Blessing is a no brainer.
I'll be far more comfortable going in with Evans and Ngarava, both of them have been playing, are in fine form and good rhythm. We've been waiting for quite some time now to see this trio play together, which is probably the best Zimbabwe have had in last 16-17 yrs may be?
I'll keep Jongwe, his variations will come in handy in these big grounds.
Shumba/Munyonga is just about anyones call, I understand the feeling here behind having Munyonga, who can hit it hard, playing lower down the order with Burl and Raza, yeah that's not a bad idea.

Shumba is a better batsman than Munyonga generally. But as it stands, we are talking about the number 7 position? That’s a finisher. Shumba isn’t a gigantic six hitter who can clear the ropes consistently, whilst Munyonga is. So for that specific role I’d go with Munyonga.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 3:45 pmSurprised to see Munyonga as a definite starter in a lot of these line ups...
Generally speaking I’m sure Shumba will have a longer international career for Zim across formats. But for this situation, I’m going with Tony.
