Houghton was saying our target is to finish in the top 8 because you automatically qualify for the Super 12s next time. I think this is very achievable and should be our main target. We need 2 wins
Is the top 4 from each group? Or will they combine both groups and then take the top 8? What if the 5th place team in one group has more wins/points than the 4th in the other group? The better team would miss out if they use the former method.

Afghanistan will very likely finish outside the top 4 in their group, and could thus be in the qualifers next time around.

Bottom line is its going to be very tight for all teams concerned.
It is Top 4 from each group.

Afghanistan won't have to qualify because the hosts (WI + USA) and the next best 2 ranks will qualify automatically. Afghanistan will go through on ranking.

Zimbabwe are also likely to go through on ranking (11th) unless Ireland or Netherlands sneak into top 4. Zimbabwe have a better ranking than both Ireland and Netherlands.

I'm not understanding this. I get that WI and USA will go through automatically. Neither team is in the top 8 in rankings. Oh wait, the next WC is 20 teams...so will they still have a Super 12? Or will it be a Super 10? ICC keeps changing the formats every time, lol.

Our batsmen will need to be smart. We really really need to start playing with a straight bat. I don't want our guys adopting the ramp because they simply can't hit a ball down the ground properly. Get your basic shots right, then you can start adopting other fancy shots. Shumba attempts about 5 ramps an innings and 1 maybe comes off, the rest amount to a dot or a wicket.

Wasim Akram said it so well of Andy Flower. He never played into the short ball and instantly took that out of his and Waqars arsenal. He forced them to pitch up so that Andy could play on the front foot. Trying to ramp shots will do nothing. If anything it will encourage the Pakistan bowlers and then they will go for the head and our guys will try to smack it but will top edge and go out.
You can’t straight drive a ball bowled at your head, you’ve got three options, Hook, duck or ramp it over the keeper. On big grounds like we have in Australia, you better be good at hooking otherwise you’ll get caught in the boundary every time, like Raza did in Townsville.

Not really a good comparison that one Zimbo, Andy player during a much different era where scoring quickly wasn’t as important. These guys have 120 balls to score as many runs as possible, they can’t afford to not score off the short ball.

All the bowling attacks are scary, but Pakistani attack is possibly the most lethal on display. There are not many batters that can comfortably pull 145, I mean there's about a handful that are realistically capable of getting into position and getting their hands thru the shot.

This is poorly worded. The top 8 sides from this tournament and the 2 hosts (WI and USA) automatically qualify for the GROUP STAGE of the 2024 world cup. The next 2 teams ranked after that also qualify. So in theory, number 11 ranked will also qualify

Who's willing to bet money that Raza gets out to a hook/pull shot? 😂

There aren't many bowlers quick enough to register 145 on a short ball. Guys like Naseem who can clock 150+ on a Yorker or full toss will only get it up to 142 or so on a pull able length. Granted, 142 is still quick.
