May be the priest wants to further his chances of becoming the Pope and he feels shifting base to Ireland could help the cause. He is entitled to do so anyway...

Who the hell is Alistair Bushe![]()
Is he a world renowned sports reporter ?, is he a close friend of Moor ?, is he psychic ?, how does he know what Moor intends to do, is going to do, maybe think about doing ?
He may well be a know nothing troll who's added 2 and 2 to make 7390726548.07, so why does everyone get on their high horse and set off to the ZC funeral ?, obviously blacks to sit on one side and whites on the other during the service![]()
Shouldn't there actually be some FACTS before the same old stuff comes out on here ?
Or am i just being picky
I would imagine that he is simply keeping his options open (as any sane person probably would). If the situation in Zim goes sour, or he loses a franchise contract, then he can turn to Ireland. If he scores a load of first class runs next season, plays regularly for Zim A and is challenging for a national place, then he'll probably leave it alone. <<<< Simply my speculation. 2 + 2 = ??.... Only time will tell...

Lets face it, we all know that the future of cricket in Zimbabwe will be the black cricketers who are coming through the age group system at the moment.
There may be one or two white players who stay for the love of the game but the reality is that for the likes of Moor and Nathan Waller a career for Ireland will be both better financially rewarded along with providing more opportunities.
I have no doubt that Ireland will surpass Zimbabwe within the next 5 years and we will never catch up, the amount of money they are putting into youth development long outweighs what is happening in Zimbabwe.
If it was not for the structure of the private schools in Zimbabwe then the sport would be close to ruins.

Agree there. There is nothing stopping Ireland from overtaking us (may be sooner than you have quoted) despite the English poaching. They have the right development path, and are looking good. I wouldn't be surprised to see Afghanistan and Netherlands also challenging us seriously in near future.
I'm sure maehara will ensure a smooth transition from ZCF to ICF at the right time...

It make you wonder what the future will hold for cricket in Zimbabwe, i think this is the last crop of players (Taylor, Masakadza, Sibanda and Chigumbura) who can truly challenge at the top level, i just can’t see the new crop in the system being as good which suggests big trouble moving forward.
The best thing for Zimbabwe would be a two tear test scenario/expansion of the intercontinental cup which would guarantee us top level cricket for the foreseeable future.
The way things are going now point towards a loss of test status within 4/5 years, i think Ireland, Scotland’s, Afghanistan’s and the Netherlands development we play a key role in our future, we need them to keep improving and force the ICC to expand world cups/test divisions.

Re: PJ Moor possibly looking to play for Ireland
The only problem there is the motivation for the (BCCI led) ICC to ensure the well being of Zim cricket. They have let the Kenyan cricket rot to near extinction, so why would they take steps to save cricket in Zimbabwe? The only reason nobody is talking about it still is that the Asian block still needs Zim support in crucial votes. That can bee the only thing we can bank on for now...
Re: PJ Moor possibly looking to play for Ireland
Its a good point and one which could go against Ireland as its fair to assume that if Ireland were to be granted full membership status then they would tend to back the ECB who have supported Ireland in the past.CrimsonAvenger wrote:The only problem there is the motivation for the (BCCI led) ICC to ensure the well being of Zim cricket. Then ECB as the BCCI's main opposition (some may say only opposition) would have more sway, so perhaps the BCCI will in a way help Zimbabwe cricket by keeping ireland out of the top 10.

This is an interesting point.zimfan1 wrote: i think this is the last crop of players (Taylor, Masakadza, Sibanda and Chigumbura) who can truly challenge at the top level, i just can’t see the new crop in the system being as good which suggests big trouble moving forward.
Clearly some of the doom and gloom in this thread is a little exaggerated, but there are no youngsters about now who are half the players that Taylor or Masakadza were at the same age... Despite this, the current team is a borderline joke at international level. Zim need a whole generation of players at least as good at those 2, if not significantly better, if they are to make any genuine progress/actually be able to realistically compete at all. Is this going to happen? There are a few promising young bowlers about, but in general the emerging talent levels are very worrying. Witness the U19 sides losing to the likes of Ireland and Nepal in recent years.

He's a local journalist in Northern Ireland. How well-connected he is to pronounce on this, I don't know.Train Driver wrote:Who the hell is Alistair Bushe![]()

Oh, Ireland are well catered for in that department. CricketEurope's run from just around the corner from me, for starters.CrimsonAvenger wrote:I'm sure maehara will ensure a smooth transition from ZCF to ICF at the right time...
