People don't give Mukondiwa enough credit. This is even more clear when people indirectly question his suitability(e.g ZCF&CI).
From a distance, to me this guy appears humble, accomodating, non-confrontational, and an honest & efficient steward. Precisely the kind of qualities you'd expect from whoever you may personally propose as a replacement. I think a lot of the cricketers when they speak to him directly and sense these qualities, they choose to view that as a weakness, walk all over him and seek to confront him instead of considering him a blessing and an opportunity to work together with him as a buttress between them and Peter Chingoka.
There is no doubt that under Ozias none of this nonsense wouold be happening and that even the Union would not have taken off or any of them had he guts to stand up to him. The likes of Taylor&Jarvis plus Williams for his flip-flopping, would never have survived some of the comments they made. We've had some explanations from ZC office over certain issues, plus an explanation from someone other than the MD e.g. when it came to that whole fitness, WI-Coaches, etc. Public comments were avoided under Bvute at all costs. If he had to say or explain anything it was considered an event desiring the attention of a top CI editor plus wide coverage.
It's pretty obvious that Firdose Moonda, hence CI, benefits from an unprofessional but unhindered access to information from certain figures within the team particularly the captain&batting coach(and no doubt they are visibly rewarded with publicity and coverage which ensures that their names crop up each time and only in a positive light). Be rest assured that if Ozias was still at ZC, this would have been nipped in the bud with serious consequences for dissenters if anyone was discovered to have been feeding the, in my opinion genuinely biased, media. Mukondiwa is quite happy to let certain things run without interference from him.
He is quite capable of making things more difficult if he so chooses, but he hasn't. Funds are not there. Period! Unfortunately some through their blanket "hatred"(it can't be anytihng else) simply don't give him the benefit of the doubt, and are blinded to how good he actually is right now for warring factions. It can get worse. Sooner or later he will snap.
Anyway, I think these boys have missed the trick here as far as this man is concerned. Henceforth, the only way I see this being solved is the following from ZC:
- terminate all contracts (players&CEOs&coaches with immediate effect)
- isolate the junior capable players
- do away with the franchise setup
- form them into four provincial sides
- appoint "co-operative" coaches&managers(not CEO) who report directly to ZC
- obtain a grant from government (it won't take too much to pay 60 players and 12 adimistrators&coaches) with money reserved in a separate bank account for agreed modest salaries for those contracted
- select a squad of 15 out of those players and vigorously groom them against the A sides of SA&BD plus full Afg&KEN sides ahead of the WC, using funds the ICC will inevitably lend soon, then leave early for the BD WC. Afterall, if people have doubts that we will lose to Ire anyway with Hami,Taylor&Utseya anyway then there's nothing to lose right? There are always about 3 tour matches ahead of any tournament anyway so they will acclimatise using those.
This is precisely what I would be doing if I was in charge at this very moment. The head must at all time lead the tail. Never the other way round!

Both matches cancelled as expected.
Re: ZC meets players in an attempt to avert strike
Players are starved of funds, admins need to open the books. Well past time for transparency.

A black day. Let's hope a resolution can be found.totoro wrote:Both matches cancelled as expected.

If this continues ( cancellation of matches ) howling will it take for test status to be taken away ???
It's part of the deal to have test status you must have a 1st class competition .....

I'm not an expert in labour law, but my understanding is that in Zim, the hardest people to lay off will be those on permanent contracts...i.e. the Administrative staff. The players are less of an issue in the long term, if we were to follow your scheme of things.zcfoutkast wrote:...Henceforth, the only way I see this being solved is the following from ZC:

Re: ZC meets players in an attempt to avert strike
Apparently both teams even travelled to Kwekwe, but the captains of each side refused to take the field. This strike seems to be going much deeper than just a handful of senior players. There seems to be a real sense that the players are standing their ground this time, and rightly so.

Re: ZC meets players in an attempt to avert strike
The time has come for Zimbabwe to be striped of full member status. Too corrupt, they've had chance after chance but have no interest in reforming their system. Ireland should be promoted in their place. It's disgraceful a board that won't pay their players is allowed sit at the top table and one that is doing everything in it's powers to develop a top class system is being ignored!
I wonder has B Taylor any Irish blood!!

I am actually of the belief that the board are probably trying hard (if not transparent) but they emptied the lunchbox waaayyyyy to early.
Hopefully when grant number 2 rolls around the will learn their lesson.
I am just hoping the board gets dissolved and people who really love the game come in, or iccc appointed pros.
