Match Thread: Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 2nd Test (2025)

Chittagong or what ever it’s called these days has always been a real batsman’s paradise which can take turn later in the match.

I’m not sure you can’t alter a pitch in such a short time between the result of the first Test and start of second.
Spinning pitches is a losing strategy. It’s OK every now and then, but Asian teams are better placed to either use seaming wickets or decent surfaces with true bounce that deteriorates by the end of day 3.
BD hasn’t won a match on a square turner at home since 2018 vs West Indies. They lost to Afghanistan, India, and NZ since then. They beat NZ once on a turner but that wasn’t a minefield.
I’d rather see a seaming track even if that means losing 2-0. There is nothing to be gained by winning or losing inside 8 sessions on a square turner or winning on a 500 run highway.

Pakistan turned a road into minefield in a week for that 3rd England test with all kinds of unscrupulous shenanigans
Rawalpindi was it? Can’t remember now.

Not a minefield as first innings average scores were still 300+ Just not a highway like the first match. But it was also a used wicket from the first to second game. Third test was played at a different venue.

Yeah that Multan pitch they used for nine days over two tests with no doctoring, saw England couldn’t play spin so doctored the Rawalpindi deck in the week between the second and third tests. Road might have been exaggerating a little
, but they definitely doctored it at short notice with heat and industrial fans to dry it out and make it far more spin friendly.
Bangladesh could do the same if they’re feeling shady
