Westerns 265 all out (M. Mabuza 106, T. Mupariwa 39, F. Takarusenga 33; N. Mushangwe 3/61, P. Utseya 2/38, P. Kadzitye 2/45, S. Masakadza 2/55)
Stumps: Day 2 of 4-day match.
A sparkling century from Mbekezeli Mabuza helped Westerns to end the second day of their fourth round Logan Cup match against Easterns with a first innings lead of 64 runs.
Resuming on 16 for one, Westerns went on to make 265 runs before they were dismissed.
Top-scorer Mabuza crafted his 100 off 171 balls, seven of them fours, in 199 minutes of occupation. He also starred in two meaningful partnerships: the one for the ninth wicket with Tawanda Mupariwa (39) which was worth 51 runs and the other for the 10th wicket John Nyumbu (16) which also contributed 51 runs.
The Westerns resumed with Freedom Takarusenga and night watchman Christopher Mpofu.
The latter was the first wicket to fall on the day, caught by Forster Mutizwa off the bowling of Philemon Kadzitye. Mpofu had not added to his overnight single run.
Takarusenga stayed on to see off number four Charles Coventry (12) and five Tafadzwa Ngulube (9). In his 148 minutes at the crease, he made 33 runs off 93 balls before he was bowled by Zimbabwe captain Prosper Utseya. His was the third best contribution for Westerns.
For Easterns, bright teenage bowling prospect Natsai Mushangwe took three wickets for 61 runs in 24 overs, six of them maiden. Kadzitye, Utseya and Shingirai Masakadza took two wickets each.

http://www.zimcricket.org/?pid=art&articleid=666Northerns 510 declared in 129 overs (R.Chakabva 131, B.Taylor 95, T.Taibu 92 T.Kamungozi 2/104 B.Mugochi 2/158)
Centrals 122 all out in 42.5 overs and following on
Day 2 of 4 Logan Cup
NORTHENS were as imperious on day two as they were on the first day of the fourth round of Logan Cup at Alex Sports Club, pilling runs at a canter before declaring on 510 with Regis Chakabva especially ruthless when making his first century of the series as Centrals felt the pressure.
Resuming on overnight score of 351 for four Northerns declared on 510 for nine, an additon of 149 runs with Chakabva who added 54 to his Tuesday night score, hitting 19 boundaries and one six in his 131 before Bright Mugochi had him trapped leg before wicket. He faced 207 balls and was involved in partnership with his teammates that ensured the match was beyond Centrals.
Centrals bowlers toiled to remove Chakabva as his in your face stroke play was at times unplayable. Although Chigumbura who resumed on overnight of 4 added just 10 runs before Taurai Muzarabani had him caught at slip, had a bad day in office, Graeme Cremer at number nine hit 49 to take the score to 510 before his dismissal signaled the declaration with Trevor Garwe and Admire Manyumwa both on 9 unbeaten.
But Northerns domination was not just with the bat as they skittled Centrals for 122 in 42.5 overs forcing them to follow on but play could not continue due to bad light. Centrals would be on the ropes again on day three as Northerns threaten to finish them off with a day to spare.
One of the domestic games spin purists Raymond Price took the Centrals batsmen to the cleaners with a five wicket haul in which he conceded just six runs. His 8.5 overs featured an unbelievable six maidens as Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Bright Mugochi and Blessing Mahwire all went for just five runs in the best bowling spell of the series so far.
This man of the match performance saw Centrals perishing as Chigumbura used just five bowlers with him, Admire Manyumwa, Trevor Garwe and Graeme Cremer taking a wicket each with one run out of Centrals stand in captain Eric Chauluka involving Sam Mwakayeni and Manyumwa.
Only Richmond Mutumbami (38) and Mahlunge (32) offered some resistance. Both Kamungozi and Mahwire went out for ducks to leave Centrals missing kingpins Edward Rainsford (hamstring) and captain Chamu Chibhabha (suspension) clearly on the ropes.
With play resuming on third day, Centrals who failed to avoid a following on, managed just 122 and need to erase 510. The side need to bat the whole day on Thursday to post a total of more 388 if they are to force Northerns to bat again. But even then the score looks a bridge too far for their disappointing performance.

It's looking increasingly as though the re-appearance of Sean Williams has not happened but very good to see Mbekezele Mabuza get his maiden 100, sadly another failure for Charles Coventry though.
I'm glad to see the career best 100 for Regis Chakabva as he seems to have slighly lost his way after the great knocks he played in the SAA last year, anyone know what this Chamu Chibhabha suspension thing is about ??
So, Zimbabwean wicketkeepers in this round, Regis Chakabva 131, Brendan Taylor 95, Tatenda Taibu 92, Forster Mutizwa 50, Richmond Mutambami 38, forget the batsmen we'll just put out 5 keepers and 6 bowlers in each match
Nearly forgot, who is this young kid Price, sounds as though he might make a decent bowler

Really fantastic performance by the wicket keeper batsmen.Taylor,Taibu,Mutizwa,Chakabva all are getting runs.I am sure that first three will straight come to the final playing eleven.
And what to say about Raymond Price. He is one of my favourite player and getting younger and younger day by day.He will play till 40 or even 40+.No one is gonna say anything about it

An inspired performance by Regis Chakabva, very nice
And credit to Mark Mabuza as well. Could this season be the turning point for him? Up until now I always thought of him as a fringe player for Westerns, but now he's played for Zimbabwe A and notched up a century. Obviously you expect the national team players to be the top performers, but it is good when you see domestic players start to impose themselves in the same way. Nyamuzinga, Mutizwa, Mabuza and Chakabva have scored centuries, none of these guys have played a Test. Matsikenyeri and Masakadza are the other century makers (and Taylor, Chigumbura and Taibu with 95, 94 and 92 respectively) but these guys are expected to be amongst the runs - they've played Test cricket and they've also been part of the national setup for at least 6 years.

That's good, all eyes will be on Cricket Archive to see if his name is on the scorecard I'm sure!
In a matter of a week our theoretical first eleven has changed dramatically. Potentially, the next ODI we play could see: B Taylor (wk), H Masakadza, T Taibu, S Williams, M Waller, F Mutizwa, E Chigumbura, G Cremer, P Utseya (c), R Price, E Rainsford.
