Forgot about Waller there...maybe there was no Burl. Don't think there have been 7 whites in an XI...maybe 6 tops.
Moor as well

In many of the matches I remember there being 2 black pacers along with Hamilton and mire, so there were 7 whites and Raza quite a few times.

5 is the quota, we are just fooled because Raza is a mainstay, so we think its 4.
Shouldn't be any quota at all, but if its 5, thats probably fairly fair. Whats the record number of whites in a ZIM XI post 2004? Was it the 2018 qualifiers with Taylor, Williams, Ervine, Jarvis, Cremer? Was Burl in that squad?
Each time I hear about these quotas I truly feel bad: I rule you out because you are white, I rule you in because you are black. This is racism!
This is the african application of that damned woke ideology.

On the other hand I feel well because (if I'm not wrong) this is the first time Zimbabwe plays without Raza, Williams, Ervine.
Only one or two years ago a squad without the big three was seen as a nightmare. Now we are attending a match where Zimbabwe is not at all under last matches par.
Clearly a "par" where you are a bit struggling against Ireland is not to be enthusiastic, it is anyway not the total collapse which was envisioned.
I actually think this unofficial quota system can work well. If 3 white batsman know that they are competing for places with 3 other whites, they may actually be motivated to give 100% every game. Look at how hard Welch fought for a century, knowing his place isn't guaranteed yet. Same goes for if the 3 best black batsmen compete with other 3 best black batsman, it could actually bring out the best in everyone.

The days of fully white teams are long gone and will never return for those of you still pining for those days.

It was obviously not easy putting a team together here without 3 senior batsmen but what was the logic of picking 4 tailenders with 7 inexperienced batsmen? High high risk especially when you look at 2 of the tailenders not performing well with the ball on top of that
They seem to be pushing this Newman kid heavily for some reason.

Dont want to write a kid off so young, but I see nothing to suggest he has the 'it' factor.

Imagine how disastrous this would have been without Blessing and Richie?

There is always Nyauchi and chivanga though but we really should have more good fast bowlers. This is the biggest ZC failure not finding them in a country of 15 million.

its stupid in a zimbabwean context.

'Lets make a quota to deny the 15 kids in the system of a certain race opportunities. Lets deny opportunities to a minority that make 0.1% of the population.

A sport that they took to Zimbabwe mind you.

Usually diversity quotas are in place or justified to protect minorities, not rub them out.

Nick probably felt a little pressure to not run out of partners there, poor kid.

90 is something to be very proud of.

Cricinfo commentary made mention his dad looked devastated in the stands. Poor guy, but he can be proud.

Gutted for Welch but hopefully this means he becomes a more permanent fixture in the side
