He's a yard faster than Ngarava and Muzarabani. He's bowled well so far.

After a very long time I've seen a Zimbabwean batter bat so well for a big hundred. I know we've had a few in tests on flat decks but in LOIs scoring 169 is a different thing altogether.
Well done Brian Bennett!!!
I think he has shown that he is the best of the next Gen batters. I'll be very happy if more players like Ben Curran or Dion Myers can also put their hand up and increase competition here.
Welch could well be in line for the openers slot if Curran fails to capitalize on his starts. I won't be harsh on Wesley because he did well recently in the test, so that's ok.

Well dont give him the gloves. Also, why are mid on and mid off back. Keep mid on up and have him play across the line to get it over his head. Come on!!
Re: Match Thread: 1st ODI Zimbabwe v Ireland 14th February 2025
Curran hasn't done badly. Hard to fault him being involved in a 95 run opening partnership. Bennett was going so well he could play his more natural game which is quite conservative at this level. In domestic he goes at a run a ball but this is obviously tougher. He's quick between the wickets, but in my opinion he does struggle to rotate strike, as have most Zim batsmen before him. He's not too dissimilar to Gumbie in that regard, but does look more organised than Joylord.
He's been taking a bit of tap on social media and its slightly premature. When Joylord batted similarly people were more than happy. Maybe Curran is being held to a higher standard?
