I haven’t read the last few articles posted here yet, but Taps is right.
If Ballance gets banished, he will lay low for a few months after peope have moved onto whatever next outrage is on and quietly make a comeback in Zim, a few feel good arti Lee about de ind chances and a year later he’s back in business, but as a Zimbabwean test player.
If Michael Vick can make a comeback after drowning dogs and Mark Vermeulen after spearing someone in the crowd and burning the house down, I think Ballance making racial jokes to an (at the time) friend will be forgotten quickly.
And let’s be honest, who doesn’t crack racist jokes towards friends of other races! People like savage and dark humour.

No, Gary Ballance..you know, the guy who's trending worldwide for being racist and having the club cover-up his trampant drug and alcohol abuse..that Gary Ballance. Funny how when a privileged white boy is exposed for delinquent behaviour, you'll always see some misguided soul attempting to deflect said delinquency to a bunch of black people minding their own businessCholeZimbo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 8:26 amslcricfan1 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 3:39 amtbf we didnt know how much of a moron he is. There's a very prevalent misunderstanding about what privilege is (or isn't). The presence of privilege doesn't mean that every individual who's a member of a privileged group is rich or powerful. I'll give two very clear examples. We will agree that under the Taliban, Afghanistan has what can be called "male privilege". However, not every Afghan male is rich or powerful. Thats not what it means. It means that Afghan women as a group are MORE likely to face obstacles or discrimination than Afghan men as a group. Its about probability, not certainty. Your post above is akin to me saying that because I currently do not have a fever, disease doesn't exist anywhere in the world.Googly wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 8:59 amPrivilege? Dont make me laugh. We're down to 20 000 "privileged" people here, 90% of whom are involved in a daily struggle. Been like that for more than 30 years.
You have zero idea of how skewed the playing field is in all aspects. We get on with it because there's no recourse, if there was I'd suspect most would just face the front, put it down to a bad experience and just get on with it.
I could give you pages of evidence of what constitutes privilege.

Re: Gary Ballance Statement
So if you're underprivileged but you're a " member" of a privileged group then you're still privileged?
I'd say your "membership" has lapsed. You're using discrimination and privilege interchangeably and they're not.
If you're not being discriminated against does that make you privileged?
These multi-cultural first world countries have bent over backwards for years to not just accommodate, but to give minorities a leg up. Much of the issue is people's inability to take advantage of that privilege they've been extended and they want more and faster, or they've just flat out abused the opportunities they've been extended. They don't understand that some poor schmuck has to pay for it and they don't get people's reluctance to accommodate that. There's not enough to go around so you must lower your expectations to give someone you don't know and probably wouldn't like, a head start? There's understandable resistance to that. That's not racism that's self preservation.
Anybody trying to simply categorise privelege into white and the rest simply has an agenda.

Re: Gary Ballance Statement
I see Raffa has been caught with an anti-Semitic tweet he made in 2011.
His excuse- I was young, I'm a different person now, didn't mean to cause offence, deeply ashamed and I apologise for any offence I may have caused to the Jewish community.
Now where have we seen that before?
Karma is a helluva thing
I've just heard he was actually trying to get a job at Yorkshire How naive and entitled is that!!!
With supposed lack of privelege comes a sense of entitlement.

If he was sincere about his apology he'd start crying again.
