Yeah but you could make the same argument about sooo many things in cricket and in sport in general.

For example, its equally weird that due to uncovered stadiums, rain can wash out entire matches. But I'm of the opinion is that cricket has always been played in open air grounds, matches have always been affected by the threat of rain, and that is part and parcel of the sport. I am opposed to playing cricket indoors because it wouldn't be cricket anymore IMO.

Now about carry-over points...the ICC has always done it, and no one has really complained about, nor has it ever resulted in an illegitimate champion or result so I see no need to fix it.

Things are getting worse between BCCI and PCB with reports emerging now that the hybrid model is rejected by the BCCI and the Asia Cup may be scrapped altogether.

This could mean Pak going ahead with their boycott of the World Cup. Although personally I don't want it to happen, It remains a possibility.

There could be 3 spots up for grabs at the Qualifier in that case.

There might not be, they could just give the spot to next highest in the Super League table.

I think it’s just sabre-rattling and will be resolved one way or another. A damn shame though if Pakistan do end up missing it, even if it benefits us.

Qualifiers are in June itself, so it is unlikely that the situation will be clear by then. Once the Qualifiers happen then everything will be dependent on them, they won't consider WSL table after that.

I agree with SZ though that somehow they will resolve this issue and Pak will play. Will be sad not to see them at the WC honestly.

Perhaps the ICC should issue a rule that until BCCI and PCB sort their issues, neither country can host an ICC or ACC events. Would make things easier.

That'd get the issues sorted lightning quick if it was ever passed

The BCCI, sorry, I mean - ahem - 'the ICC' - aren't going to pass a rule to the detriment of themselves.

These organisations are one and the same.

The BCCI and their apologists thought the Big 3 financial model (the one where BCCI alone took 60% or 40% of the ICC pot) would never be rolled back. In the end they weren’t able to twist as many arms as they thought they could and the more equitable current model was passed (BCCI still gets the lions share but it’s closer to like 20%).

It’s possible if there is a will amongst the other 8-10 countries.

BCCI would never get stripped of anything.

The ICC will figure out a way. Both the boards know that they stand to lose a lot of money if these two do not play each other in the World Cup.

As a Zim fan its so shit how we get punished, even if what is happening is an attempt to fix our game, yet the likes of Afghanistan, BCCI can get away with so much bullshit.

The ICC even looked the other way when the govt got involved with CSA. Not a single peep from anyone. FIFA is corrupt, but ICC is a whole new level of shithousery and bullshit.
