Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
I was looking at his stats and they are incredibly good. Is he trying for national selection for Zimbabwe?

Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
Yes, he is. Apparently the powers that be have said that he needs to prove himself in FC cricket first though. I get their logic. They have a group of talented young batters who are progressing nicely, both for the national side and in domestic cricket, but Higgins has unreal county stats and we are crying out for a seam bowling all rounder.
I think they still have a little bit of PTSD with the Ballance situation.
Higgins should give Zimbabwe perhaps one more domestic season and then make a decision. Return to county cricket and keep powering through the runs and wickets and then return to Zim next year, to stake a real claim before world cup preparations truly begin
Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
They did the same to NW and they've wasted a year and it will be at least another year before they let him into the white ball stuff. He's a better white ball player tha a red ball. We need a seaming all-rounder so badly. We may be the only cricket team in the top 15 that doesn't have one.
We have Evans, Jongwe and Akram. Evans coming back from injury, has never been convincing with the bat despite his ability. I'm not sold on Jongwe or Akram. Higgins should walk into this side. Maybe do a year to prove he's a sadza eater and can sing the anthem in 3 languages? His county stats are superb.

Higgins should be in this side full stop. Zimbsbwe cricket are just arrogant
Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
I just can't believe that he is going to walk away at the age of 30 with his family in London from a lengthy contract with Middlesex for ZC. Just does not make sense. I wouldn't'

Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
I wouldn't either and I think the response from ZC has shown how little he is valued. It's silly. He lend some much needed stability to the lower middle order. How penetrative his bowling will be on these wickets is a different conversation. He would, at the very least, bring a level of control which is desperately needed when Muzarabani and Ngarava have an off day
Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
Asking him to prove himself in the domestics is fine, and if he does then definitely he must be in the side as an allrounder. Whose place he takes will be a tough call though. We are possibly looking at Campbell / Williams or Gwandu.
The bigger question though is, if he is willing to commit to ZC.

Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
A genuine all rounder that should have already been playing for his country. Should at least be playing white ball cricket , doesn't need to prove himself unless the brainless twits think playing county cricket doesn't count for anything.

You been to London lately habib?
As Tucker Carlsen says, it looks like a place degraded from losing a war.

He's got a family, you want to bring your kids up here.
Higgins may talk like an Englishman, but he fits right into this way of life. I don't know where his wife hails from though? Ultimately they're the boss.
