In the middle of the T20 blast which is the cash cow for the counties. Would be amazed if Ackermann is released as he is a key player in his countries T20 side, Klasaan also first choice white ball player at Lent. Not sure about Glover and De Leede, how needed they will be at Durham.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 7:43 amI think Ryan Campbell at Durham will release De Leede and Glover.pillowprocter wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 6:36 amThere's also van der gugten and van meekeren — basically their first choice pace attack could miss

Yeah I can’t see most being released, apart from the two Durham lads. Crazy situation, cricket is fucked
Re: 2023 World Cup Qualifier discussion
Yes very unfortunate for these sides, but although it might seem like a positive for Zimbabwe, it could also work in a negative way.
If the likes of Scotland, Ireland, Netherlands etc are missing 4-5 top players, it means they’re less likely to take points off Sri Lanka or West Indies.
This means Zimbabwe can’t afford to lose both games to those teams, otherwise it almost certainly means they won’t qualify. I had some hope of SL or WI dropping a game to one of those other sides.

Ireland will be full-strength
Re: 2023 World Cup Qualifier discussion
It's not going to be easy stopping SL or WI either way. It will all come down to what happens on the day. Zimbabwe and Ireland stand the best chance to cause that big upset, don't count out Nepal, they may not quaify but can cause the odd upset.

Other than Incompetence, is there any other reason why the ICC are not announcing groups or schedule for the WCQs? The tournament begins in less than a month and obviously the warm up games even before that.

Sometimes I wish that one bloke at the ECB in the early 2000s had never proposed the idea of T20. Imagine BCCI depending on ICC for finance.
Re: 2023 World Cup Qualifier discussion
I was just thinking how big an impact it will be if Zimbabwe or Ireland or both qualify for the WC. It will surely mean at least one former WC winning team will miss out from the WC. That will have huge ramifications for that team whoever misses out.
The Qualifiers will once again be heart breaking for quite a few teams and the ICC suck for this.
