Almost 100% guaranteed to qualify on world ranking I think, even if we don't finish in the top 4 this week.

How can you not bowl out your best quick? There`s no logic for it. Its not just one over either, its 2zimbos_05 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 10:20 amI think for Williams a lot will depend on how we manage him and what Dave has planned for him. I definitely think he can play till 2024 but will probably need to give up a format if he wants to play in the world cupTapsC2 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 8:52 am
I think what Rajput tried to do in Europe last year is what needs to happen after this world cup. I think Ervine, Regis and Williams have to retire from this format. I would 100% want to keep Williams out of all them but I have doubts he will be playing in 2024. That's the only reason why I would also say he has to step aside because he still has the quality. As for Regis and Ervine I think we need to move on in T20s.
Shumba has to go find some form.
I'm not into this narrative that Ervine was responsible for the lossslcricfan1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 10:02 am
Ervine should not be dropped or anything. Its just that it was very poor captaincy
Hmm...seems like a fun activity

I think BB is in SA. If our domestic league is well run he may well make an appearance. If club and NPL continues he had to play that first, guys thinking they'll be fast tracked into franchise is not likely. That's what happens if you play lots of cricket domestically you have to earn the right, it's how it should be.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 11:08 amOur domestic T20 needs to at the very very least be a double round robin. I've also long thought they could invite Namibia, Uganda and Kenya to send national/A sides to come and compete in the domestic T20. You would have 8 teams then and expose our guys to different/new players. Could still have it done within a couple of weeks if necessary. I suppose the problem is who pays for it.Googly wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 11:02 amWell we need to seriously up the number of domestic T20's we play and potentially get to Namibia and SA with an A side. Just dropping Mandande and Munyonga in the deep end ain't going to work. Marumani maybe.
I'd really like to see Brian Bennett and Matt Welch get a full season of club, NPL and then franchise. They've got big potential. Both of them looked at home against quality bowling in the U19 WC, which immediately tells you there's something to work with.
There's a multi-format A tour to the Windies supposedly on the cards early next year.
Hopefully we see Matt Welch this season. Not sure of BB's whereabouts. Bawa has gone to uni.

That's if Ireland or Netherlands don't finish in top 4 themselves. It's unlikely now for the Dutch and Ireland anyways but just saying.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 11:09 amAlmost 100% guaranteed to qualify on world ranking I think, even if we don't finish in the top 4 this week.
So yeah Zim are pretty much through. Still in the context of this WC and the fact that losing to an associate after all the good work done will not look good, the match against Netherlands remains very important to win.

Yeah losing to NED will completely negate the PAK win (who are just so unpredictable, like every other Asian side except India) unless there was a win against India or South Africa to go alongside. It's all about context. There's a loss to a very poor Windies side too.sam_ahm wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 1:21 pmThat's if Ireland or Netherlands don't finish in top 4 themselves. So far it's Ireland, Pakistan, Scotland in the win column. And Bangladesh, windies, SA in the losses.
Overall not bad at all, but also not phenomenal. Closing out is the key.
I remember the 2019 ODI world cup Bangladesh had done quite well for the first three quarters, then royally fucked up the entire campaign in the last week to finish 8th (a rain most likely robbed then from 7th, but 7th isn't exactly great either). But they were within striking distance of a top 6 or even top 5 finish until the final week of the tourney. But that's what separates the good teams from the mediocre.

If zimbabwe win against Netherlands . Most likely it's going to be a knock out game between zimbabwe and India for the second spot behind S.A which is the final game of the super 12s . Anything can happen in that game ..zimbabwe just need to give themselves that chance by beating Netherlands

We obviously don't know what happened on the field. Perhaps Blessing was feeling a bit tight or sore, or they went in with a plan to use a certain type of bowler against certain batsmen.slcricfan1 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 11:15 am

I'm not excusing Ervine. Yes, I would have bowled Blessing for his 4 overs, but there were far too many other issues for the blame to be on Ervine for this loss.

I’m wondering if the ICC will let Zimbabwe win.tej_27 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 31, 2022 2:19 pmIf zimbabwe win against Netherlands . Watch alot of ‘umpires calls’ go against Zimbabwe if it’s close.
