True especially in those kind of qualifiers. Anything can happen because we are not the most dependable team out there. The gap between us and the USA for example is much smaller than the gap between us and a team like New Zealand.

We should think long and hard about our team selection. We need guys who know how to punish bad bowling. A team of overthinkers who can't clear the ropes is the last thing we need.

Would be interesting to see how the groups are divided ..even though zimbabwe might not win the group ..but they should still certainly go through ..the difficult teams that I can think of is oman uae netherland and ireland . And we don't have to play all of them ..so we should surely go through ..again it would be interesting to see if we top the group

I agree. We still have a mentality that T20 cricket is bash cricket. Go out there and just try to send the ball to Vic Falls, regardless of the pitch.

We need to start thinking of it as a specialist format and training as such. Rajput doesn't do that, but what does ZC care if we have a mediocre coach.

We really need to identify a pool of players for this and start getting them playing regularly. We should arrange comps against Uganda or Nigeria if we have to. Anything to give the guys match practice. Can even arrange games against domestic SA sides then at least we can also play on different pitches.

Selectors might rethink in this situation and bring back Cephas Zhuwao in T20 qualifiers as he has got the reputation of demolishing the associate team bowling attack.

In a way Rajput is actually trying something that worked for India when he was the manager. He comes from managing a team which dropped Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly from 2007 T20 WC and went in with a very young squad lead by MS Dhoni that won the first ever T20 WC. Interestingly after 2007, India never won T20 WC despite having strong teams full of experienced players.

I think he is trying to do the same here with Zimbabwe, by increasing the pool of players and focusing only on the younger players for T20s. Obviously it has not gone down well with the senior players but I'm beginning to think Rajput is atleast trying something different, which if works, can be really good for Zimbabwe.

It makes sense to me in matches that have no meaning but do we really leave Raza out for the qualifiers? That's what I want to see.

I see the logic, I don't see the sense.

India still had world class players even without those. It was not as if MS was an unknown. Zim don't have that luxury. Our senior players are our best players. Zim wants to nurture young talent, thats fine, but that is what the A side and domestic scene is for.
