Can't believe they included Sibanda in the 20 if he wasn't going to be picked in the 16.

That is a special type of double-mindedness.

On the bright side Masakadza has been included ahead of Ncube.

Taibu is keeping again, so I don't know what the purpose of Chakabva could possibly be. Perhaps he mixes a good drink.

Unfortunate situation.

But for all those saying things like "Vusi didn't know it wasn't clear etc" well that doesn't hold any water.

I knew about this rule 2 years ago, and if I knew this rule then I'm sure Vusi knew this rule.

Sadly, I think you're probably right... He knew he was taking a chance, but might have thought himself undroppable...

Good on you! How did you know this rule? cos Vusi made himself available for selection ages ago, and Butcher said publicly he expected Vusi to play a part in NZ, after he'd announced his aus decision. Why had you not set us straight when we were discussing probables? Why did he cut his stint short? Who selected the squad? why was he in it? undropable? has anyone ever been undropable in the zim team?

edit: mostly, whoever created this mess has left us short of a half-decent Test opener. and going into an away series and trying to "create an impression" if Zim cricket - well, we have done, and will confirm it in the Test...very sad!!!

Well, how did this rule not figure when Sean Ervine was called for the world cup?

:) i meant anyone not sticking to the rules...Dabengwa performed admirably in his outings...often outbowling his spin counterpart and on occasion top scoring - after some of the debacles produced by Matsi and Vusi early on KD must have seemed a god-send

ah you know what it times like this when i wonder why i even follow Zimbabwe Cricket. Sibanda is my favorite batter in the side, man he has some class, and the fact that h's now out of the squad is such a blow. I was expecting to see a good, solid looking team to tour New Zealand, but again have been let down by the selectors :( who comes up with these ideas ? What does Gavin Ewing have to do to get a game ? Why call up Chitara, knowing that he wont be needed since we have mazakdza there ?

There's something going on behind the scenes still and i really dont like it as it's going to effect the solid foundation we've built for ourselves over the summer. Sort yourselves out your administrators, the fans are getting annoyed!

Sibanda all the way!!

Boundary-
Different set of circumstances.
Sean had left in f*cked up times in Zimbabwes political and cricketing climate. He had made himself available to come back on the we of the world cup and would no doubt have been expected to play Logan afterward.

To put a loose analogy:
You have 2 sons;
One soon ran away from home. He says he will come back if you let him play in the backyard.... You let him becuase your grateful he has returned and so excited he's back.

Other son never left. Is told he can't play in the backyard until he mows the lawn... He doesn't mow the lawn but chooses to play with his friend. As punishment he's not allowed to play in the backyard.
EDIT:
If you really want to talk technicalities ..... Sean did play for the southern rocks that season

Sloandawg:

No anti Vusi conspiracy. By upholding this rule it saves the integrity of the Logan cup and is incentive for players not to leave the nest. It sends a message that rules are to be obeyed. Short term pain long term gain.

If Vusi cops it on the chin I guarantee he wil be back in the team by next tour.

the analogy is too loose: so we uphold the rule based on the circumstances (ie spirit), not the rule itself (letter)? doesn't teach anyone anything then, unless it's "what's good for the goose is NOT good for the gander" ... the circumstances seem different only in how far Vusi went to accomodate the rule and how little Sean did to do the same. They both played away, they both played at home, even happened in a relatively close period of time :(

of course if Vusi eats humble pie he'll be back in the next tour - no doubt at all - but that's not what I'm lamenting, this is the step back they always seem to take just after taking A step forward. They CLEARLY were not as frank with him as they needed to be - that is the one thing that sticks out here!! and it therefore does not teach anyone anything...
