Has Prince played himself back into Test consideration?

We really have to move past this culture of 1 good innings per season gets you a national call up Jay

Can’t make do with what we haven’t got, I’d love to see an opener put out a couple of bid seasons back to back but ultimately it’s not happening.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 8:01 amWe really have to move past this culture of 1 good innings per season gets you a national call up Jay
For tests, the selectors seem to just pick the in form guy, which kind of makes sense for tests cause they play so little and usually the tests are so far apart.
Like Kaitano, his debut should have gotten him at least 3-4 tests, but due to the large time in between, and loss of form, he’s pretty much on the scrap heap again.

Gumbie has had a very good season. Would like to see him in test side opening. Masvaure is capable of big daddy hundreds but not fair on Kaia who has been good for zim recentlyjaybro wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 8:12 amCan’t make do with what we haven’t got, I’d love to see an opener put out a couple of bid seasons back to back but ultimately it’s not happening.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 8:01 amWe really have to move past this culture of 1 good innings per season gets you a national call up Jay

Well we definitely do need as many options as possible because I have doubts on Raza, Williams and Ervine continuing in this format for too long. This year might even be their last.
With Raza we saw what happened for the West Indies tests. With Ervine I think his biggest motivating factor is the World Cup. I even remember him expressing shock at BT retiring(We all know why now) because he thought they would all at least make it to the world cup. Then with Williams we all know the story. His finger injury seems to be quite a delicate situation actually. I read an interview of his where he mentioned that he opted against putting 2 pins for 6 to 12 months because his world cup chances would have been at risk. This might actually be their final push
So I don't think tests are really a priority for any of them really. People like Prince will always have another go at it

Kaia has earned his place for sure, although his lack of Logan cup hundreds is a concern.
Yes Joylord has had a good season, and yeah he’s probably in front for that second opening spot. Just asking the question if we think Prince’s big daddy hundred has him back in the reckoning.
He was unlucky to warm the bench for a lot of the season for Byrom, he makes pretty much every other side imo

Its between kaia gumbie and masvaure. All deserve to be opening but only two will make it.would plumb for Gumbie and Kaia as Gumboe has been far more consistent tjos season and scored several hundreds and 80sjaybro wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 8:31 amKaia has earned his place for sure, although his lack of Logan cup hundreds is a concern.
