A huge loss. Really need Vitori to step up even more now. Thought he would of at least waited until after the world cup though.

Basically... Zim have virtually no chance of ever being able compete with "proper" international sides.

That sentence is probably true even if Zim manage to keep hold of all available talent. Unfortunately, it would appear to be certain if key players and talented youngsters continue to leave in such high numbers.

This article http://www.davidcoltart.com/2013/08/lan ... ys-jarvis/ seems to suggest that Jarvis hasn't ruled out returning in 3 years time. I don't think he will come back but at least he hasn't said he is never coming back.

not necessarily,
after one season he might be playing horribly and expensively and may seek a release or get nudged out.

surely he wont languish more than a season if so.

All the money is going to the fat cats at ZC. How many administrators do we need. Is it merely a case of jobs for the boys Zanu PF Style

I know many may disagree with me, but somehow I feel that although it might be a blow to the depth of talent in the FC circuit in Zim, Jarvis' departure is maybe not tragic when it comes to the Zim team itself. The presence of Vitori, Chatara, Shingi, Rainsford, Chinouya and others certainly give us quite a few options. I definitely think that Shingi, if managed properly, can feature in a major way in the coming years with bat and ball. A team with Shingi and Elton is definitely worth some runs and some wickets.

I feel that the tragedy is more the environment which leads to the departure of Kyle Jarvis, rather than his departure itself.
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).

True.

But this was equally true when S. Ervine did not come back, Ballance threw in his lot with England, Taibu gave it all up, S. Williams threw away more than a year of his career, Vusi tried to make in Oz, C. Ervine walked away ... not to name all and sundry talented black and white kids pursuing a career outside Zim.

The list just goes on and on, not to mention what lies before that. I'm just terribly gutted, because, for all the hopes and new dawns, at the heart of the matter nothing ever really changes.

If truth be told future looks blick. Its the continuous lose for Zim's best talents. Honestly how long will we survive with second rate players. If we are to have any chance at all a policy shift is required to get some of these overseas players in the side. Surely not all of them have intentions of playing for Ireland, England, etc.
