Re: Zimbabwe Pakistan 2nd test
on a subjective note, i would have loved to have seen Taylor take up the gloves, as it would pave way for either Williams or Raza to play. I'd have loved to have seen Sean Williams play Ajmal and Rehman, sweeping and cutting. I know where you're coming from there Betterdays, Chigs is class when he's on song, but at the same time, i dont think he's a number 6 batter. Raza or Williams should have played and Taylor should have kept wicket

Yeah, Shingi hard done by again.betterdays wrote:Chigs as a specialist bat? has he given up on bowling altogether or just being nurtured through a down period? he's defo worth having in the side while he gets his bowling confidence back but if hes not going to bowl again at all it's hard to see him keep a batting spot above Williams or Raza. cant think of one good reason for dropping Shingi:(
pretty good going though so far

Re: Zimbabwe Pakistan 2nd test
Taylor needs to bat long now. All credit to Masakadza though, he played a good innings.
Another hundred partnership and we'd definitely be cooking with gas.... but in the meantime, we obviously can't afford to lose any more wickets before tea.

Re: Zimbabwe Pakistan 2nd test
Well we won the second session after losing the first. What the team is showing this series is that we can win sessions and even days against full member sides at home. Still lots of room to improve obviously, but there seems to be a return to some level of competitiveness.

Awesome batting by Waller in the last 20 minutes or so. It would have knocked the wind out of Pakistan's sails if they thought the end of that partnership meant the end of the Zimbabwe resistance.
If we could be around the 4/260 mark by stumps that would be a great effort, especially if Taylor is unbeaten when the batsmen walk out tomorrow morning.

Re: Zimbabwe Pakistan 2nd test
Poor foresight on Taylor's behalf. After all this will be our last test in ages to come and a win here would have leapfrogged our test rankings. If he wants to become 10% of Andy Flower he have to take more responsibilities. Good to see Masakadza scoring freely after being relived of Captaincy pressure. Vusi proved again that he is in the team to spoil our chances. How many chances should be given to this lad. Raza was termed T20 specialist but he wasnt selected for any of the T20. He was top scorer against India still warmed the benches for our two ODI chances to clinch the series. When ultimately he got a forced entry, he impressed by a great test knock. What else he should do? H e is still warming the bench and Vusi spoiled our chances of a session advantage. After the current pair, we just have Chigumbura. What if, he gets a Mawoyo like decision? Mutambami is as good as nothing as test batting is concerned.sloandog wrote:on a subjective note, i would have loved to have seen Taylor take up the gloves, as it would pave way for either Williams or Raza to play. Pathetic selections. Shingi, Williams, Raza all out of playing XI and we are thinking of winning the test. Even Misbah said that they dont have an attacking spinner so it doesn't matter whether they bat first or second. Full credit to Waller again for playing in true Zimbabwean fighting attitude.

Taylor survives and Waller goes. Lat batting pair on crease. How much we are missing assured Raza here?
