Disagree, we would of won the game if they had played a couple of bowlers who can bat at 8 and 9, i mean Kamungodzi coming in at number 8 is madness absolute madness!!!AussieZimFan wrote:Zimbabwe have absolutely no batting depth

Re: Zimbabwe "A" v Afghanistan Match Thread
If Zimbabwe had decent batting depth, the 8th and 9th batsmen wouldn't be required. If it wasn't for the bowlers Mutombodzi and Jongwe, the innings would have been over before 35 overs. If none of Zimbabwe's As top 5 batsmen can go on with a decent score against an opponent like Afghanistan, then it doesn't say much for Zimbabwe's batting depth.
Re: Zimbabwe "A" v Afghanistan Match Thread
Im surprised Mutumbami wasnt selected for this match, I reckon we were 1 batsman short and it cost us ....
Although in saying that experienced guys like Regis, Fozzie and Timmy Maruma really should have done better, if these guys want to make a place in the National team these are the games where they have to score runs and show they can be relied on .....
Getting out cheaply against Afghanistan doesn't doesn't show reliability .....

Zimbabwe have no depth in anything. We have lots of players but few of them are all that good.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Decent hitout for a few of the bowlers. Good for Jongwe to get another 50. Not holding my breath over Tino, but good knock from him. Poor otherwise. Kaia opening seems dodgy. Definitely a batsman short, even of the same standard.

Yeah Roy hasn't opened for a while and those Afghani quicks are probably abit quicker than he is used to ......

Three quick wickets peg back the Afghans after what was a solid start.
Tight stuff from Madziva, but Jongwe has been expensive (as per usual, from what I've seen).
No chance of a match stream is there?

Re: Zimbabwe "A" v Afghanistan Match Thread
extra batsman in and a tail stronger with Madziva. Good to see him off to a nice start at this level
Re: Zimbabwe "A" v Afghanistan Match Thread
I like the structure of this team with all rounders @ 6,7 & 8 gives bowling options and batting depth .....
Big game for Regis, Timmy and Richie a big score could push them into the national team. Raza and Waller are not cemented in the team so middle order spots are up for grabs ......

Match delayed due to technical issues - What could that possibly be?
