He's around, just not being selected I think.

Is there anyone that would walk into the ODI team? Cremer is the only one guaranteed easy passage I think.

I think Chatara has surpassed Jarvis in all three formats. Jarvis was pretty awful in the limited overs formats. Chatara is more consistent. Jarvis could get Test 5-fer, but also go 0-100 in 20 overs the very innings. Chatara won't do that plus he's a far better ODI bowler.

Cremer, is highly talented, but is missing something. Still, his all round ability means that he is a pretty significant loss. If he were to come back it would be fantastic. Lets see how stable these new ZC central contracts are. There is still a chance that Jarvis and Cremer could return.

So I would say the players ZIM needs to get back are Cremer, Jarvis, C Ervine and in that order. Meth I believe said he will come back as soon as his personal issues with his wife's immigration are settled.

ZIM need to make sure they don't lose Nick Welch, because I think he is the biggest batting talent out of ZIM since BRM Taylor, possibly even bigger.

Best views on this thread till now. Agree with every analysis here.

If possible, I would swap Jarvis with Taibu in the chosen 3 while looking eagerly to see Meth again.

Disagree,
These are rough times and the LEAST likely a player would be committed to the setup.

Lets me realistic here, the last two have been gone for 10 and 15 years, they will never return back for Zimbabwe, ever. I'm talking about players who are part of the post rebel era here. Guys like Meth should rightly be included. Goodwin is nearing (if not already) 40.
Also disagree,

This is the most likely time for a Goodwin comeback.
He is actually 42, on the slight decline but still playing well. This plays into Zims favour.
Likely his last or 2nd last year and wil be a long time retired.

As an active player on his last legs, what better time to cap it all off with a world cup swansong fairytale?

A free agent by that time still match fit....just a question of whether ZC will select him on principle.
But the groundswell is creating the right wave for it.

Hat trick of diagreeing.

People are looking back at Cremer with very rosy tinted lenses.

Good player, but was getting absolutely smashed and wasnt even being selected in the 11 at the end.

He would be in the frame but by no means he would walk back in.

Nick will be lost at the current rate,
But I believe his support network will leave it right to the end to make that make or break decision on where to turn, give ZC every possible second to turn it round.

But things will need to get better.

At least with Nick Welch there is a desire to play for Zimbabwe given the right conditions. Many of our young players do not desire to ever play for Zimbabwe.

I think whats lost on alot of people in the proper countries is zim kids -in any sport- generally grow up idolising players in other nations and don have that sporting attachment to their own country the way others do. Becaus generally zimbabwe do not compete seriously in ANY sport.

For example,
If you are a kid growing up in australua you idolise Warney and Matt Hayden, are spoilt for cricket on tv an generally would not show much interest to overseas sport.

If they like football they grow up wanting to be Jarryd Hayne,Benji Marshall or Daly Cherry Evans, even in soccer you can aspire to be Harry Kewell or Tim Cahill.

Likewise England you could have Alistair cook or Jimmy Anderson, Steve Gerrrard in soccer and Wilkinson in rugby.

However in Zim they grow up watching and idolosing the same players the aussies and the poms do, not their local stuff. It makes it very easy to dream of reppin' the three lions or Manchester United.

You just have to see the excited buzz on facebook regarding other countries games. You dont see the same interest in sports abroad here in oz. Not even in the media.

you guys have been discussing the prospect of Murray Goodwin's return to possibly star in 2015 World Cup. and it is, i think, of no use at all for Zimbabwe Cricket to bring back a player in his twilight. i believe that there is no dearth of talent, excluding those who have left or put halt to their career, if the current administration leaves the office and a group of new capable people who really care about Zimbabwe Cricket are entrusted with the administrative duty. ZC must stop the exodus of players to England. ECB is like a vampire who can only suck South African, Zimbabwean and Irish talent to survive. with that said, i would like to have 1)Craig Ervine, 2)Malcom Lake and 3)Nathan Waller play again for Zimbabwe. This kid Malcom Lake is a serious talent and i saw him hitting cricket ball at will at the 2012 Under 19 World Cup against India, he has the potential to win many matches both with bat and ball for whichever team he plays for in the future. And Craig Ervine is young and talented enough to bring back for he can serve the country for years we all have seen that he was, when playing Zimbabwe, one of the most promising batting prospect of the country and Nathan Waller, though i have never seen him play but this kid, Malcom Waller's younger brother, is said to be a versatile cricketer who can possibly be the Zimbabwe Version of Shane Watson considering that he is more than a handy batsman and useful medium fast bowler.
