Ackerman is an interesting one. He does incredibly well in County, but in bursts, he has horrible runs of form. At international level he's never really dominated. It can only be a mental hurdle because he's a good player.

A full strength Netherlands side is formidable, its hard to understand why they cant put it together for a world cup qualifiers, does it get more important?
It directly clashes with their T20 tournament which is very premier . Don't think players had a chance in this one. Apparently bas de leede is there only till Netherlands have chance to qualify
And only because his county coach is the former Dutch coach so presumably has a lot more sympathy than any other county coach.

It is all pretty shit. English journos go crazy at the prospect of a random county player choosing the IPL over English cricket. But when the shoes on the other foot, who cares hey? Typical english
There is a mandatory clause which says that counties should be allowing players to play for such events but i think players themselves are reluctant cause there is a possibility they might lose their spots once they return after all county cricket is their bread and butter . Associate boards cannot pay them on par with counties. Also on Cambo allowing de leede . Even Micheal Jones plays for his team but he wasn't allowed to go to Scotland . I think de leede is still not a core member of the Durham team hence he is allowed

Nah, I'm pretty sure Micheal Jones wasn't selected because he wasn't selected. As in, he was left out.

Was going wait until the end of the pakistan series, but don't think the last 2 games will change my mind now about the qualifier squad I'd pick (including starting 11):

1. Kaia
2. Gumbie
3. Ervine
4. Williams
5. Raza
6. Burl
7. Madande
8. Masakadza
9. Evans
10. Chatara
11. Muzarabani

Bench
Madhevere
Nyauchi
Marumani
Ngarava

That's a pretty strong team even without Ballance. I'm pretty confident that we have a good chance of qualifying.

And that's the side they should pick for the last two games, but watch them give Ngarava, Madhevere and Marumani some game time and watch one of them come off and cause a headache selection

The only question mark is kaia actually.
Madhevere is always capable of putting his hand up.

They might give Myers a game if he's back from injury?

I think you are right, there’s definitely an element of some players not being too keen. At the end of the day even if a county was to say, ‘sure! Go and play for the Netherlands for a few weeks’ - there is a severe risk that the player loses their spot in their county XI and their less than 100% availability could impact contract renewals etc. So im sure some players themselves don’t make themselves available.

I also think you’ve answered your Michael Jones point yourself with that

Ngarava definitely needs some game time though. Still arguably in our best XI or close to it. Hopefully he feels well enough mentally to play 1 or 2 of the remaining games.

And ya it would be nice to see Myers if he is fit yet.

Also we haven’t seen Mavuta which is odd. I’m a Wellington fan, but Mavuta is a much more attacking option so it would be useful to have him in the squad too. Maybe he’s injured too idk

With Masakadza as captain we've seen the last of Mavuta for a while, unless they play one less seamer.

Yes I think I still want to see Ngarava Myers and Mavuta. Marumani is a tough one because he needs to find some form as he will most probably be in the squad unless Myers does something spectacular if he is fit. Then maybe they will decide that Gumbie is the backup. If Marumanu is in the squad then we have to keep playing him so that he picks up some form. Just like Kaia has to play.

The other genuine headache will be Ngarava versus Evans. The tradeoff between having a better bowler and hoping Chats, Ngarava and Blessing can score some runs or sticking to Evans as he is the better batsman. I haven't made up my mind there and I suspect we will see that constantly changing during the course of the tournament.
