Gave it a good shot but ...it is what it is and it will only get worse.

I recall you questioning it all, history proves you were on the (lack of) money!

Lol. Kirsty is an inspiration and a great athlete, a politician??? Lets be honest she'll defer to Coltart-whom even as sports minister and being a lawyer had his pants pulled down by makoni! Futher allegations that they had more on coltart than he had on them insured a slagging match but no mutual destruction atom bombs dropped.Ah, so it just stops now. No more pushing. No lobbying of Kirsty and knocking at her door to enforce and enact change.
The only way for change is if the kids(players) choose to set up a meaningful union and then being emancipated choose their parents---either ZC that offers nothing or another Union that offers 10%to the union, medical aid, insurance etc.
So over to the kids.
Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
I don’t the players can make a change tbh until they become the administrators, the only way to a fruitful future I can picture is of this current playing group who have been treated like shit for years and have seen the game they love had the life sucked out of it stay involved after retirement and make it their goal to run the game in the right way.
Until the guys in power are the right guys nothing will change, player strikes have done nothing we’ve seen that many and not matter how many guys get involved the admin always finds a way to divide them. If the national guys strike the domestic guys take their spots, if the domestic guys strike the national guys take the field with 5 fielders !!!

+100. That is the only way out of this mess. The current crop to take over and set it right. No amount of striking will help due to these exact reasons. In fact, long back, I had also floated the idea of Taylor and Hamilton retiring early (for the future of cricket in the country) and taking over the reigns somehow and doing the right thing for the grassroots level. Not going to happen thoughjaybro wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2019 10:19 pmI don’t the players can make a change tbh until they become the administrators, the only way to a fruitful future I can picture is of this current playing group who have been treated like shit for years and have seen the game they love had the life sucked out of it stay involved after retirement and make it their goal to run the game in the right way.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
The sentiment is that the current playing group who have had their entire careers plagued by the corruption, theft and miss-management from the games administrators would one day run the game in the right way and for the good of the game. Looking at just about every cricket board has some influence from former players who have taken up admin or board roles, so it is possible even likely that some of the likes of BT, Hami and co would or could end up running the game.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Nah. This current lot will not want nought to do with the system.
You've had Chingoka, Manase,Bvute and Mukuhlani running things for ages. Bt or hamilton wont get a sniff.Probably Prosper will.
The only way is to publically set up another sports union and set in place a players union constitution that details the players union getting £2m a year .
Detail the medical health, insurance and advantages at university and coaching/umpiring/scoring as well as a 2 year pension post retirement to help players move into another business.
Then see how many players sign up because then they have security and a net...if they strike they still get paid from the union.
They will either all sign up or ZC will have to create something similar in order for players to stay with them.
The future is in the players hands and the future of cricket.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
It needs to be a brand new board and organisation 100%. If the players were serious about enacting change, they would have. The thing is, the players are key in all of it though and I'm not sure they realise. If they ALL downed tools, then ZC would have nothing. However, if some down tools, not all follow and instead they sneak in to take their role. Their is no unity in action.
If a new board that had proper administration, backing from sponsors, funds etc, and most importantly the backing and support of ALL the players in every age group, it would work. It would essentially be our World Series moment, but it has to happen properly.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Unions can be powerful even unreasonably so.
The problem I see is everyone whines and wants change to happen in Zimbabwe cricket.
They just want someone else to do it.
