Lets observe the home series against Bangladesh before thinking about the desperate measures...

We have the current situation from playing no away cricket, no home cricket either. Our current team is as good as we have, missing only an in form Chigs and Price. There is no one else to add. The youngsters are not lighting up the domestic scene. There is some promise, but they are a good way away from being up to international standard. These guys have to play better. Do well this year and keep building. The real root of trouble is our administration. It awaits a cleanup along with the rest of Zim - but that depends upon a secure political process this year.

It's a good point Jemisi, we haven't played a Test match in over a year so anything other than a whitewash was probably unrealistic. ZC has to shoulder some responsibility for this... weren't Pakistan and Bangladesh willing to tour around August last year until ZC decided to "re-lay the pitches at HSC"?

BD certainly were, we put them off. Not sure about Pak.

We might as well set up a 3 test series against BD every year. One year home, the next away. Outside of the FTP so that we can get 7/8 tests a year instead of 6.

Good idea.

It would be a totally one-sided affair, but I think South Africa and Zimbabwe should play 1 Test each year as a "season opener" for both teams - the Traicos Trophy. From South Africa's perspective they will get to trial a couple of up and coming players in a low key affair and also be seen to be supporting the development of African cricket.

Another idea: whenever a team tours South Africa, as the warm-up match Zimbabwe should offer to play a Test match against the touring team (in a neutral venue in South Africa of CSA's choosing for the touring teams warm-up benefit). ZC offer to pay for flights and accommodation if CSA handle the logistics of TV rights and venue preparation. Any profits go to CSA.

Any thoughts?

Inept is certainly the right word. Is cricketworld your site or just one you work for?
Just one I'm lucky enough to work for - usually I write mainly about county and club cricket.
