Remember Afghanistan is a war hit country, they also had problem with economy like Zimbabwe. Situation is also not good there as regular terror activities takes place often. But what they have got is tremendous self belief. Once they started making cricket popular in 2013, they formed a great group which always thought of fighting hard in the cricket field that made them a competative unit.Probably only cricket team who had shown rapid improvement within 4 years, they not only beat Zimbabwe, Bangladesh and the world t20 champions West Indies. Their competative fight with South Africa & England was appreciated by all. Govetnment has got full support to them in improving cricket. BCCI is also helping them in providing them venues. Afghanistan realy deserve full member status, but ICC had got some rules in giving test status, Away Test Cricket is possible for Afghanistan, but regular test cricket in other nation is not possible for Afghans to rent, as they can't host games in home, security priblems will be there, hence they are facing problems in not getting test status
What hapoened with Zimbabwe is entirely opposite. Zimbanwe is Peacful Country except that 2003 incident that brought Zimbabwe in headlines Government haven't backed cricket instead they tried to destroy cricket through racial and colour politics. What Zimbabwe were in 90s, today they would have been mid ranked team, they were also terrific units with full crowd support and were competative giving results like beating Indians, Kiwis, Pakistan in Pakistan, White Washed England, but interventaion of government, poor administration removed the mass supporting Zimbabwe Cricket. Today Zimbabwe is developing in Soccer & Rugby but Cricket is entirely in loosing phase
