[Match Thread] Zimbabwe v NewZealand (3rd ODI)
Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v NewZealand (3rd ODI)
Mushwange and Waller doing a good job here, particulary Mushangwe who is bowling a very attacking line but we do need a wicket

Slowish going in the middle overs since the departure of McCullum and Nicol. New Zealand seem content with getting the rest of their batsmen some batting practice before the Test on Friday.
And I have the feeling, too, that Zimbabwe is lining up Mushangwe for a Test debut on the same day

Amazing how much of a difference just two Tuskers can make to Zim!andybligz93 wrote:harsh , hes a good start but hes only bowled 4 overs . what if he gets belted for another 70 runs ? its to early to say but i definately agree with you that this guys for sure got talentFlower power wrote:Why did we not bring this Ncube lad early on..........Persists with Jarvis was the talk , guys you cant persist with someone in conditions that are not suitable to them .
First Test NZ vs Zim, QSC - Lineup:
Duffin, Taylor, Hamilton, Vusi, Matsi, Ewing(c), Taibu, Elton, Meth, Price, Mpofu! 12th man Ncube, Querl, Mutizwa

I'm just kidding, I'll still stick to my Rainsford and Panyangara for now

Future: Jarvis, Shingi, Vitori, Cremer with Vitori, Ncube, Querl & Mushangwe in the wings(I still think Shingi should be worked on even harder, what they did to Mpofu they can get more from out of Shingi).
Present: Mpofu, Rainsford, Elton, Price, with Panyangara in the wings.
Notice that I keep stick to my 3seam+1spinner formula, and I keep excluding Utseya for Tests be it present or future!

With all due respect, albeit outrageous, but even the underbowling Ewing or Dabengwa would be more practical picks in their homeground. Not only is he a young and inexperienced 'LEGGIE', he will be up against that NZ top & middle order for two innings let alone one!Conant wrote:And I have the feeling, too, that Zimbabwe is lining up Mushangwe for a Test debut on the same day

How about a straight wager on this hhm?hhm wrote:With all due respect, albeit outrageous, but even the underbowling Ewing or Dabengwa would be more practical picks in their homeground. Mushangwe to make bebut 33/10 or 3.3
Mushangwe not top make debut 22/10 or 0.22
This means on the first for every R1 I put I get R3.30 in return; and the second for every R1 get 22 cents. Since the first scenario is such a long shot, we'll keep the price resaonably generous, and the second price short

Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v NewZealand (3rd ODI)
I think hhm's issue is he doesn't want young players period. Although I tend to get his reasoning: let them find their feet in FC then expose them when they are finished articles, and let the old heads hold fort, and now that there is no walk out in progress or looming, we have enough older heads, whilst the youngsters learn their trade. I somewhat get it, but I think he tends to be too hard and fast, I mean look at Sachin, Lara, Clarke, Broad, AB, Steyn, Boucher, Kallis all started relatively young so I don't think a hard and fast rule should apply, if the kid is good enough send him through, but at the same time we tend to take the post 2004 scenario as a defacto standard, i.e. young can find their feet in international stage, which may not be entirely healthy...I advocate a middle of the ground approach with each case dealt with on its merit.Conant wrote:How about a straight wager on this hhm?hhm wrote:With all due respect, albeit outrageous, but even the underbowling Ewing or Dabengwa would be more practical picks in their homeground. Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v NewZealand (3rd ODI)
I get the feeling Taylor isn't using Meth right. Meth thrives on swing, and this is conducive with a new ball. I'd rather he bowls him out up front, as his second spell normally isn't that great, mind you today, his first wasn't that great either...

Not asking for his head yet, but when was Price's last wicket, and when was the last time he bowled a sub 4 game?
