Why compare preferences? Tests are tests - obviously that is the form i would imagine everyone here is most partial to but that has absolutely no bearing on my view of T20.

I'm not sure they're exceptions [Kumble, M M, Steyn, Collingwood, Dilshan, Shakib.......) ... I think Pollard (maybe RVDMerve) who seem to thrive in the shortest form are more the exception in that thy cannot take their T20 performances outside the T20 arena.

If Warner were a zim cricketer we would be predicting endless summers from this guy!! He has played four test innings; carried his bat in one, been 'not out' in two and even one of the 'outs' was only outscored (amoung the specialist bats) by Clarke... endless summers!!!

Could it be that the weather has conspired to deprive Sean of some much needed practice, ahead of what I hope will be a disastrous season preceding more games for Hampshire 2ndXI, culminating in retirement induced by rejection by the Rocks for a Franchise Contract during pre-season for the 2013 Logan Cup, after Ozias tells him to get out of their bus and that he should never dream of playing for Zim again. :D

Shows that Ozias bvute and Chingoka have come a long way in regards to their attitude towards Ervine letting him play in the franchise comp after he so cruelly jettisoned zimbabwe and broke many hearts on the eve of the world cup

Look I'm not looking for a fight I don't like it and you obviously do...it was an aside, never "the" point. My saying it's a circus was never meant to convince you...just a matter of fact...fact that I don't value it and it isn't really cricket...like sevens(which I enjoy) is to 15s...end of...you obviously like the circus....life goes on...I'm not on a recruitment drive just stating my feelings which as much as you, I'm entitled.

Now can we move on?

With all the 'arguments' about our favorite players, plus our naturally generous outlook towards our team's fortunes, I always look forward to reading both Cricinfo articles about Zim cricket as well as the accompanying comments for a dose of reality. Just two comments on the report of the latest round of Logan Cup matches - how different!
This is a farce! 10 wickets in one day! Better bowlers have never managed such. The FC system must be crap!
Zimbabwe's Test cricket future is looking bright. Kyle Jarvis is growing up into a deadly fast bowler, capable of troubling the best, as he showed in his remarkable figures of 10/53 in this vast Eagles victory, while Brian Vitori's feat also should not go unnoticed. Despite this heavy Rocks defeat in which they hit "rock bottom", Vitori took a five-wicket haul in the only innings he got to bowl. The century scored by Forster Mutizwa is also a bright sign. If wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu is either injured or out of the team for some reason, then Mutizwa seems a potential and justifiable replacement. Tinashe Panyangara also showed some promise with the bat in this game and could possibly a fine seam-bowling allrounder for Zimbabwe in the future. I also think that Glen Querl, Tatenda Manatsa, and Nathan Waller should be given a chance because they are looking really good now, particularly Querl. I think they can become important contributors for Zim in fast bowling department in near future
I think the last comment belongs to one of us, if not it's pleasant to see a neutral picking out Panyangara's potential as a bowling allrounder. :D I reckon he's a better bet than Meth!

You called it 'circus' once - i responded that it has value ... you did it again saying: "i had to get that in" I left it ... you mentioned it a third time. I responded (correctly) that it may not be Tests but is important to cricket. And you reply is I'm looking for a fight?? what happened to your balance - that was always so evident. Then you compare it to 7s(I don't recall a 7s player ever crossing into Union internationally ... not in the way that T20 stars do all the time!! - not that I'm the best judge, it may have happened somewhere like Fiji)

I had moved on.

Yup - i like it... and have no need for others to do so but will defend it when under attack

I don't like a fight (though you present the opposite as a fact not a feeling)
it is not a circus to everyone (though you present it as a fact not a feeling)
7s is not equivalent to T20 (which you present as a fact not a feeling) in as much as i described earlier

we are entitled to opinions but facts - if questionable - will be questioned!!

There is some quality in the Logan Cup, the problem with the stats is that there are still a lot of passengers in the teams. So good performances count, it is just that they should be weighed carefully. Wickets and runs are cheaper.

I could list the blitzBok members who play 15s, the Zim 7s guys who make slicing out of 15s, and the fact that Im under no illusions T20 is not perfectly parallel to 7s....but that would be splitting hairs and sinking into a bottomless pit of argument and counter arguments....instead I will offer my final thoughts....

1. Like the Jarvis and Vitoria detractors I have ridiculed T20, I realize that may not be fair, as there are many including a billion in India who are hooked on the stuff. My error was to air my view, which may have touch a nerve here. My apology is offered.

2. I dont believe T20 is a basis for pointing to great skills and test of them...I believe that is why we have been able to beat Australia twice but never in Test....but I understand that unpredictability may be it's X factor...I just don't think it separates the goat from the sheep well enough....not a fact, just MY view.

3. I think you missed the point totally about "fact"....the FACT is that it's my view it's a circus...the "viewpoint"is a fact...it's a fact that I don't rate it....never meant to imply that therefore T20 is useless being a fact....that's a subjective point and proving subjective notions is never conclusive. I hope you get my point. If it's any consolation I abhor people who make their opinions/preferences facts. So rest assured I am with you there.

4. This is really a side show...my point was Querl may not have impressed in T20 (which for me doesn't mean lack of ability)...he has done well in FC which in mho is more accurate yardstick...

I rest my case and respectfully recuse myself from the debate and respect your awe of the format and reserve my right to be underwhelmed.
