Do they have electricity in Masvingo and are there any shops or bars open past 5pm?

We[Tuskers] would've given NZ a tougher challenge. Just throw in Mpofu&Meth(for Jones&Staddon), to complement Ncube&Querl, with Coventry instead of Ngulube, and we might have even drawn that thing!

Ewing&Dabengwa would've both individually or combined better performers than Cremer!!!!!!

Dabengwa!? He would have gone for 10 an over against NZ and Ewing can't bowl.

Indeed, his record agrees with you conclusion of him! Particualrly when you review his record against the same opposition, albeit with a superior batting order in my view. Cremer totally outbowled him in that game!

Ewing can't bowl? All these guys below him must be crap then:
2001/2
2002/3
2003/4
2004/5
Ewing wasn't available for the rest, but you might want to review this 2009/10 season when Maruma, the leggie who is a superior batsman and bowls just as badly, technically outperformed Cremer.

All of those exclude Ewing's batting figures, which I must assure you, are just as good, he topped the lists!

The thing is, Ewing pretty much gave up bowling. He is no longer a bowler or an allrounder, he has reinvented himself as a batsman. I agree that Ewing probably deserves a shot as a batsman, but he shouldn't be selected on the basis of his bowling, just lilke Matsi shouldn't.

For a start, Dabengwa's test was in Bulawayo, not Napier. Secondly New Zealand was a weaker side then, thirdly that was way back in 2005. If anyone was given a good run in the side regardless of performance it was Dabengwa. I guess I can add Dabengwa to your 'chosen few'. The list is growing it seems.

It now stands at
Terry Duffin
Gavin Ewing
Keith Dabengwa
Douglas Hondo
Blessing Mawhire
Tinashe Panyangara
Edward 'the angry' Rainsford
Anyone who plays for Tuskers

It sholdn't matter if, like Hafeez, Jayasuriya & Dilshan, he can effectively play as a second spinner. Those three aren't exactly spinners, Ewing was a proper one, and we see that each time he bowls a few overs in the Logan Cup, they can't put him away - and if he's persisted with like Cremer, Jarvis & Vitori, he might be a better bowler in a year or two! :D

How is Ewing's fitness these days? He always seemed kind of pudgy and unathletic?

Still the same I assume. That didn't stop Aravinda gate crashing Andy's parting innings in the 2003WC, and if I must add - Warne reaching 700+ wickets. Not in the same class by any imagination. Being an offspinner isn't hard or taxing, andnot even you would deny that he's not capable of being 80% the spinner he was. Plus his batting that should be good enough for us to forget Price/Utseya/lamb and accomodate a raw underacheiving legspinener like Cremer/Mushangwe/Maruma, so they can grow into a frontline role!

Ewing has been sitting on 98 FC wickets for a long time. We couldn't expect more from his bowling than we do of Waller.
