Curious to see if Cremer got a go with the ball today. He was noticeable by his absence in the first innings, which I found strange when it was stated up-front that they wanted to see how he'd handle the Bangladesh conditions...

Re: Match thread: GP-BCB Academy XI vs Zimbabweans
I hope cricinfo will update the scorecard of this match quickly so that we can hv a cast a look at the full scorecard.
GP-BCB Academy were 68-2.Within one hour adding 39 runs in the board they lost more
6 wickets and at the end of day 2 they are 107-8.It's now confirmed that Zimbabweans
will win tomorrow.Raymond Price has taken 4 wickets for Zimbabweans. He is really
liking the pitches of Bangladesh.Guys,do you know a fact Raymond Price is the only 'Rebel' player who is still in the team and he is alone killing the opposition.Just imagine if there
were 4 or 5 more players like 'Price' in the team with younger players like Williams,Chigumbura,Rainsford,Mupariwa,Taibu,Cremer then what would happen to any strong oppornent!!!I hope, cricket authorities of Zimbabwe can imagine that!

Oh, we know.. Price wasn't even the best of the bunch back in the days when the team first fell apart - he's really come on in the past 2 years or so, he seems to be relishing the challenge of showing what he can do. Having him around also seems to be helping the younger guys come on as well, he's not someone we want to lose.Detective RDS wrote:Guys,do you know a fact Raymond Price is the only 'Rebel' player who is still in the team and he is alone killing the opposition.Just imagine if there were 4 or 5 more players like 'Price' in the team with younger players like Williams, Chigumbura, Rainsford, Mupariwa, Taibu, Cremer then what would happen to any strong oppornent!!!I hope, cricket authorities of Zimbabwe can imagine that!

I think,Raymond Price will not quit Zimbabwe like many players did in the past years. He should play for the national side as long as he can.Younger guys are really highly encouraged by him.I hv noticed in the series with Sri Lanka,he was talking with the players, planning, how to do more well, encourage the players in the fielding and he himself contributed too.I think,Taibu is also very much inspired of him.I hv seen his hunger to take wickets in every each delivary.Really a great character....

Re: Match thread: GP-BCB Academy XI vs Zimbabweans
At the underwhelming score of 8/233 earlier today I was writing a message but ended up clearing it... I'm still not overly impressed with the scores Zimbabwe posted. The batsmen have really let the team down, even in the second innings there should have been at least one person go on to make a century.
Luckily the bowlers adapted to the pitch more quickly than the batsmen, Ray Price will be in the hunt for a 5-fer tomorrow morning.
The only question is how many wickets Graeme Cremer took. I'd like to put this match behind us to be honest, but I do hope Cremer has done enough to get a look in for the ODI's.

I'm not going to take too much of a downer at a win - yes, the first innings has shown up the fragile batting again, but that's nothing new, and BCA's even-more-calamitous collapse would suggest it wasn't entirely the batsmens' fault. If it's an issue with the conditions, then this will have been a good learning experience for them.brmtaylor.com admin wrote:The batsmen have really let the team down, even in the second innings there should have been at least one person go on to make a century.
As long as they don't repeat that sort of performance in a match that actually counts...

Bangladesh Academy chasing 197 against Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe – 89 and 273:
(T. Taibu 70, H. Masakadza 66, S. Matsikenyeri 42; N. Hossain 4/49, S. Sajib 3/60, R. Arafat 2/44)
Bangladesh National Cricket Academy – 59 and 107 for 8:
(N. Islam 36, K. Emon 31, M. Mithun 5*, R. Hossain 0*; R. Price 4/21, T. Mupariwa 3/21)
Stumps on the second day of a three-day match.
The Bangladesh National Cricket Academy will be chasing 197 with two wickets in hand, on the final day of their match against the touring Zimbabwe at the Sheenda Chandu Stadium in Bogra on Thursday.
Zimbabwe resumed their second innings on 133 for two wickets, on the second day of the three-day match in the northern Bangladesh city on Wednesday.
Opener Hamilton Masakadza was the first wicket to fall in the first session: caught behind by Mohammad Mithun off the bowling of Nazmul Hossain after adding 11 to his overnight effort of 55. His tally came off 119 balls and included 10 fours.
The stand-in captain had resumed Zimbabwe’s second innings with Tatenda Taibu who built on his 19 and looked like he was set for a big hundred only to be trapped leg before wicket on 70, by Rayhan Arafat. Taibu’s departure marked the beginning of the end of the Zimbabwe innings as, thereafter, wickets fell regularly until a stand for the ninth wicket between Raymond Price (27*) and Tawanda Mupariwa (11) put up 21 runs, to help take the tourists to a second innings lead of 304 runs.
Nazmul Hossain was the pick of the Academy bowlers with four wickets for 49 runs in 16 overs, four of which were maiden. Saqlain Sajib claimed three wickets for 60 runs also in 16 but with three maiden overs and Rayhan Arafat two for 44 in 10.2 overs.
The Zimbabwe bowlers were also not found wanting early in the Bangladesh second innings. Mupariwa had opener Jahirul Islam caught by Matsikenyeri for one to end the fourth over then Edward Rainsford began the fifth by having Nasirrudin Faruque (4) caught by Taibu. The Academy were on 13 for two.
The hosts did settle however, with Kamrul Emon (31) and captain Naeem Islam (36) combining for a third wicket partnership of 67 runs which was broken by Raymond Price in the 33rd over when he had Emon caught by Masakadza.
It was the first wicket of the day for the Zimbabwe left-arm spinner whose enthusiasm to play the Tigers has not waned since he took seven wickets in his second Test match against them at Harare Sports Club in April, 2001. Price’s haul for the day in Bogra was four for 21 runs in 10 overs, with four maidens.
Mupariwa, enjoying a rich vein of form stretching from the home series against Sri Lanka in November, picked up three for 21 in 14 overs, with eight maidens.
After the three-day match on Thursday, Zimbabwe will travel to the Bangladesh capital Dhaka for the GrameenPhone Tri-Nations Cup that also involves Sri Lanka.
They will follow up their participation in the One-Day International (ODI) triangular tournament with three ODI matches against the hosts, also at the Sher-e Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

Re: Match thread: GP-BCB Academy XI vs Zimbabweans
I notice that TigerCricket.com and cricinfo differ with their close of play scores.
TC.com have Zim 89 & 303 BCB NCA 59 & 107-8
cricinfo have Zim 89 & 273 BCBNCA 59 & 107-8
I would guess that cricinfo are more likely to be right and that TC.com have got confused with the 30 run 1st innings lead ?
