Hopefully Namibia too qualifies through pre -qualifier qualifierjaybro wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 9:39 pmLooks like Nepal have done the impossible and qualified directly to the main event being the CWCQ in Zimbabwe, overtaking Namibia after winning 11 of their final 12 matches

2023 World Cup Qualifier discussion

Re: 2023 World Cup Qualifier discussion
I saw that Nepal, UAE game in patches, it is incredible how Nepal won that because until that 7th wicket partnership they never looked to be in the game and all the momentum was with UAE. I thought UAE are back to doing what they do best and that is to KO teams when the only thing remaining is to go through them.
Scotland, Oman and Nepal in the Qualifiers already, Zim will have to be vary of Lamichanne, he has be dangerous on these slow wickets. Nepal might end up surprising a lot of teams, they do look good in these conditions. They will struggle if the wickets have pace and bounce though.

I saw the WI v RSA game the other day and WI do mean business, they went about approaching thay match in a very positive way and if they play the kind of cricket they can, they will surely come through the qualifiers.
How is the feeling guys? What happens if Zimbabwe do not qualify for the WC? It is surely not the end of the world and there is plenty more to look forward to, esp with the 2024 and 2026 T20 WCs and the 2027 WC where Zimbabwe are the co-hosts. But I don't know if this will lead to drastic changes like how we saw with Heath Streak.
I know my post is very pessimistic, don't get me wrong I'm just thinking on a very realistic possibility.

WI or SA will be a threat in the Qualifiers due to their pace batteries. I guess Sri Lanka are in there as well and they have big match temperament regardless of their overall quality.

These qualifiers will be difficult. More difficult than 2018

Zimbabwe were cruising in 2018. Granted the games vs AFG and SCO were last ball thrillers, but results wise ZIM were undefeated I think until THAT game.

Yes, they lost 2 games both when trying to seal a place in the world Cup, one to WI in a high scoring game when Samuels took the game away, and then against UAE. Basically they had 2 cracks to make it and lost only those 2 games.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Mon Mar 20, 2023 12:14 amZimbabwe were cruising in 2018. This year it will be a lot tougher, but then it's going to be a lot tougher for everyone.

That's what they all say

I think what you're all saying is true, qualifying for the 2018 CWC certainly seems like it should have been easier than the 2023 edition. The Windies were the only historically big side in the tournament, whilst the likes of Ireland, Netherlands and pretty much everyone else have gotten a lot stronger.
But as I said, during the last edition Zimbabwe didn't have many players in any real good form apart from Raz & BT, so if our boys are firing this time around that's a huge plus despite the rise in quality of the other participants.
