Re: [MATCH THREAD] 2nd Test Afghanistan v Zimbabwe @Abu Dhabi
We have to bat for over four sessions. Five would save it.

Understand the larger point, but we certainly did not lose wickets in the first dig trying to just block. Not sure of the context here.zimbos_05 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 12:06 pmThis so much. I've spoken about mentality and coaching for years but it never gets addressed.
Say what you want about Rashid, but you just don't go out so cheaply and for such a low score when the other team clearly proved it to be a road. One of their players scored pretty much all our runs. Batting pitches do not deteriorate that fast over the space of 2 days.
We have a serious mentality and development issue. We have players who get it a certain point and then just stop. Never get further. This is my biggest fear for Wes. Our whole side just stagnates.
We need far better coaches, analysts, sports psych too. Hondo and co just do not cut it.

Burl definitely comes across as physically and mentally feebler version of the feeble Sean Williams we had in the early part of his own career. So many incidents, injuries,... It definitely does not look good.zimfan1 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 11:50 amI know this goes against the opinion of much of the forum but I don't rate Burl. He is 26 and has not really done anything in international cricket apart from smash Shakib for a few boundaries. I have watched in the last year and he just wants to be a celebrity, not a hard working cricketer.

He is always trying to make friends with the opposition instead of getting involved in a battle, he just does not have that drive and willpower which is required.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 12:26 pmBurl definitely comes across as physically and mentally feebler version of the feeble Sean Williams we had in the early part of his own career.
