Can we actually ignore what Vermeulen is doing though? He has been in prime form really. How would that be rewarded? Is he looking for national call up himself? Or just happy playing one solid knock after another in the local arena till he stays fit? He must be asking questions among the national selectors now for sure.

Welch has to be fast forwarded, just like we did with Coventry, Taibu, Sean Ervine and Hamilton Masakadza. I have no doubts about that now. It has been quite a long time since we pushed a teenager on the scene and this guy looks up for it. We'll also get to know his allegiances that way.

Although I have been in favour of a recall for Mark Vermeulan I'm thinking maybe he doesn't want a recall, he could possibly think he is not mentally up to facing Steyn, Philander, Morkel and co ......

Maybe your right Crimson he might be content in racking up the runs against the local franchise bowlers .....

Correct me if i am wrong but i make it that Nick Welch (currently 59 not out) is on track to be the youngest Zimbabwean to score a first class century at the age of 16 years old and 61 days

I think Hick had just turned 19 when he hit his first ton (230) in 1985.

Hamilton was 17 and about 6 months when he did it in his second FC match.

Choppa only scored his first ton ten years after his debut. Chigumbura did it a couple of weeks after his 18th birthday.
