If ervine fails Mutizwa for the pakistan Test definetly
Although I do not agree with the disgraceful decision to leave Mutizwa out of the squad we should not toss Craig aside after one test if, and it is a big if, the "walking wicket" fails with the bat tomorrow.

Ervine has shown over time he is worth his place in the side and I would like to think he would be given more than one test to prove himself.

Agree but truthfully Ervine should give us a good score tomorrow for sticking with him despite competition, he is talented enough to play his game at his own pace, we got 2 whole days of gametime. Considering we are playing one test at time, players have limited time to prove themselves

There is no reason to ditch Mawoyo at the moment. He has scored 43 and 35 and seems to work well with Sibanda. If the bowling he was facing was supposedly crap that isn't his fault. He can't control the opposition.

Tino played very well and avoided the all familiar Zim collapse. He deserves accolades.

hey lads i have missed the last 2 days play i have been out and about. i have seen the scorecard , nice to see we rolled them under our score but the batting again !!! vusi and mawayo did a steady start but really should have gone on , onc eur past the new ball and into the late 20s ur eye is set and u should be continuing on to mount a big score. still they did there job and now the skipper and tibs must put on at least 85 at start of play and ervine needs to step up and prove he is good enough. congrats for vitori looks like he bowled well. nice to see anothe promisign quick coming through, i seriously feel we need a quality allround to bat at 8 meth can bat but hes not a quality bat. anyway today is the biggest day in zim cricket in a while we could either bury them alive or completly collapse and lose the match. taylor your time has come.

with two new batsman at the crease, we have to attack and hopefully we can get the remaining 6 wickets cheaply.

double digit scores from the rest and we will be safe, anything above 300 to chase and we are in with a chance. One or two big partnership and we are fine. Secretly hoping for Elton to fire because on his day he can make a serious dent on the scoreboard regardless of opposition. We have the talent to win, i hope our mentality matches it.
Ps Taylor should play his natural game and not get bobbed down

Isn't this is what test cricket is about!
All this discussion & pondering the variables. The shorter form rarely brings this conversation, just guarantees quicker results.
For my part, today we have a great mind game for Zimbabwe. Forget the standard of opposition. Last night the Bangla spinners would have been bowling hand grenades. And if I was Shakib, I would open the bowling with myself & Razzak with 4 around the bat. This creates the illusion that Zim NEED 170 odd with 6 wickets in hand.
Zim, on paper, have the slight advantage. If you got the runs, then the other mob have to get the runs. Taylor & Taibu have to be positive. But if a wicket falls early, wouldn't you Zimbabwean fans love to see Chigumbura-a former captain & potentially your best allrounder- stride to the crease ahead of Irvine & take matters into his own hands.
But Zim aren't all that strong in the mind games department, historically. I refer to a lost test in Pakistan in 93/4- needing just over 100 with 9 wickets & failing. Also, 2 tests against the Windies, 99/00 needing under 100 but failing against Ambrose & Walsh. Also, in 03/04 not being able to prise Fidel Edwards out with only his wicket required for victory.
Dare I say test cricket could be the winner today!

Australia kept faith with a little tubby man who had a woeful tour of England in 1985 but went on to be one of the best in the world 5 years later. One David Clarence Boon.

Ervine has done well in First Class and One Day cricket.

The side has invested in him over the last two years. That should not be thrown away if he fails, and he probably will, today.
