Those awards are about right. Gayle&Shingi are automatic for topping their respective charts, but I'm sure the man of the tournament gave them a lot to think about:

Trego impressed me right from the first match!
T20 Player of the day: Trego (this format of the game was made for him)....
Trego's bowling reminds one of Dernbach. The man had every trick in the book as far as variety is concerned, and it was no accident when Gayle eventually fell to him after short catches and good shouts for LBW. He was lookin good with his batting before a poor edge off a very wide delivery
He put out an superb allround display. England can give him a run in the T20 side for a couple of years! He's a better batsmen than Dernbach, but at least it means they don't have to throw in another Saffer, but use him to allow a young Englishman to be prepared in that time! Zim coach, SA top order&wicketkeeper, very soon a Zimbabwean substitute batsmen! One wonder whyt they still call it the ECB, when it's not even producing a half the English side :!:

As expected Jarvis props up the bowling charts, too bad no one wanted to put their head on the linebet! At least the name Tait below him will make him feel a little bit better. I'll be shocked if he plays for us in the T20s!

You do realise that the "bet" you just referred to you would have lost, right? Your "bet" boiled down to: Will Jarvis and Vitori outperform Panyangara and Rainsford?

Vitori and Jarvis got a combined 4 wickets while Panyangara (not selected for whatever reason) and Rainsford got 1.

Vitori had a great tournament, I saw a lot of his overs and he was in fine touch. Jarvis and Rainsford pretty much cancel each other out, shocking figures from both of them - although I look forward to seeing how you can twist Rainsford's economy of 9 into the equivalent of scintillating form. After all in one match you somehow claimed Rainsford put in a vastly superior performance than Cremer when they ended with the same poor match figures  As you once said, I can't wait to hear what sort of excuses will be cooked up this time.

Mountaineers not the strongest team on paper.
But cricket is not played on paper it is played on grass.
Went on to win with better strategy and fearless cricket. They can only get better with more opportunities for Kasuza, Sauramba and Chatara who are already way ahead of the curve.
Hope they get a opportunity in the champions league which will mean a lot!
Dominus has to push this though SA and Ind (who are thick as thieves) since it has a pre-qualifying stage now and it will be unfair to keep Zim out.

You're quite right BRM! But I also think you, and a few people got my point nonetheless. ;)

it's a pity Rainsford ddidn't bowl at least 3 more innings, while Panyangara didn't even take part. In all honesty from what I saw, Rainsford bowled well. For someone just coming from injury Vitori did extremely well, so enough respect to him.

Personally I understand disapointment where Ewing, Duffin etc are concerned, but other guys who are a little bit younger should've been given as much a chance as possible. Muzhange palyed a role in this, but what do you think about Nicholson if you saw him bowl? I though he was the fastest, faster than Chatara(who I admit can be THE quickets with adjustment to his action).

The limited appearance of Nicholson, was for me the biggest disappointment. I fancy this guy as our Test bowler. You've heard me state before that Shingi&him are my next preferred new ball pair (after Mpofu&Rainsford)! I still believe Vitori, Jarvis, Meth&Chatara aren't good enough to take the rigours of a 2-3+ Test match series, but they are on the right path. On top of ability, mental&physical endurance are required, and those four are still very much lacking for international cricket!

I too rate Nicholson, although I am not sure I have any evidence to back up my high rating of him. He has had a rather ordinary domestic scene to say the least.

Well done the goats! It's a cliche, but bowlers win matches - even in T20s. I wasn't able to watch today, but it looks like another great team effort.

Pro has been flying under the radar a bit in this tournament, but whenever I was able to watch he bowled beautifully and pretty tight. I suppose he was maybe trying to hard to convince the selectors that he belongs in the test set-up these last few months - and this in turn effected his limited overs bowling, which was not quite up to his usual standards.

Just before the tournament started I decided to abandon my usual stance (a leaning towards both Mountaineers and Rhinos) in favour of the goats. So I guess I'm stuck with them now. :D

Well done Goats , form on paper and journalists do not win games , but being consistent with game plans wins games .Just goes to show the gaffer is strong in the bowling department .
Things were just not firing , but I hope they carry along their form into the Logan Cup and Pro 50 games ...

Mountaineers is exciting not only because they won , but they were not dominated by foreign captains who did not trust our local boys ( Tuskers the example) , Mountaineers
gave a run to our prospects .The captain was able to blend in the resources that he had on offer . Shingi Masakadza , Nannes , Harris & Utseya .
I hope to see the below trio more consistently

1.Kasuza
2. Sauramba (WK batsman potential to become the heir to Taibu with the gloves not Chakabva & Mutizwa who are nearly the same age as Taibu . )
3.Chatara

Take a bow. Their game plan was spot on even in the finals where they opted to bat instead of bowl.
Continued to attacked even as wickets fell and put the squeeze on with their well drilled bowling attack.
Exciting times ahead. I have really high hopes for all three especially Sauramba who is almost there.

Next weeks game against Tuskers should be really interesting.

Well done Mountaineers!

Conant, unbelievable, who would've thought! Let me give you another one, who will win the Test&ODI&T20 series between Zim&NZ? Zim, NZ or Rain?
Great call by Conant...yep I want a few pointers from you mate...
Thanks guys, its a small gift of mine.

I once predicted that Sulley Muntari was gonna score the first goal of the match in that semifinal againt Uruguay. He hadn't been starting in the group matches and when I saw him lining up to start just before the match, I rang up my workmates and told them Muntari was gonna score. He was 33/1.
