190 is a low target, but none-the-less nothing would settle my nerves more than a solid opening stand by both Duffin and Mawoyo tonight.

Duffin has been simply woeful of late. That doesn't help.
41/1 at close, though, with Mawoyo and Mujuru holding up well.

Just home from work to find another good days work by the bowlers.
The low 1st innings score was a bit of a blow but more than made up for by skittling Griqualand for 90.
Let's hope that the low scores in innings 2 and 3 are not because the wicket is falling apart and that the batsmen can get their heads down and notch up another win to get clear at the top of the pool.

I think that 190 might prove to be a pretty tough target. The pattern of this tournament seems to be that the games are generally low scoring. Also, Zimbabwe's bowlers have generally done a very good job, whereas the batsmen, with the exception of Chakabva, have not shown anyu consistency. I think he is the only one averaging over 30...

Provs do have a couple of 300+ scores under their belts, though, so I wouldn't write them off yet. They're perfectly capable of getting this target, they just need to be careful. It's not like they're pushed for time...

What is going on with Duffin's form these days? He used to be one of the most consistent batsmen in the country a couple of seasons ago. I guess being constantly dropped without reason has damaged his confidence.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

If his current form keeps up, he'll be dropped with very good reason. 4 ducks in this competition, from (I think) 12 innings played - that's not a good ratio...eugene wrote:What is going on with Duffin's form these days? Re: Match Thread: Griqualand West v Zim Provinces
He'll have to knuckle down and score stacks in the domestic competitions this year... On that subject, does anyone know when any of the competions are supposed to be taking place?? Havn't seen anything anywhere about it. Hopefully this isn't a sign that ZC are going to keep the media as badly informed as they were last year...eugene wrote:What is going on with Duffin's form these days? I'm all for the cautious approach, but at the rate these two are scoring a full day may not be enough...
