I'd honestly rather see the young kid from the under 19's (left arm quick) steam in than have MC or DT. It would be an amazing experience for him and would be more exciting to see than the former two running in.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 2:38 pmThe only ‘old names’ being recycled in this squad are Kaia and Tiripano and they’ve had decent seasons. The rest of the squad is pretty fresh, isn’t it?
The only other young guy who deserves to be selected and hasn’t been is probably Munyonga.
I presume they’ll pick quite a different squad for the 2nd game. The likes of Ervine, Gumbie, Munyonga, Wellington, Jongwe, maybe Williams if he’s back etc will probably play the 2nd game.

Mgini dube will be in squad for 2nd 3 day match which will be exciting for him.
Don't know much about musoko. I know chataira can be rapid on his day.

Actually I'm happy with squad. It is all based on a meritocracy it seems even roy averaging 41.
Only gaff is leaving munyonga out and masuku.
Mpofu and welch jnr will be openers I guess. So you would be hard pressed to include Ben Curran who is also a opener. As much as he has improved he has not quite done enough.

Remember, Durham are the county that has embraced Bazball the most. They will play attacking cricket from ball one.

Fact is thought DT and MC are currently significantly better bowlers than any anyone in the u19 squad. It's just a fact - at the moment.sloandog wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 4:10 pmI'd honestly rather see the young kid from the under 19's (left arm quick) steam in than have MC or DT. Pick an 18 year old who has never played a senior match before and suddenly he is 0-100 off 13 overs against this world class Durham side and what does that do for him?
Also most of the u19's just took 3+ months off school and off life for the pre-torus and WC. Rightly they are probably busy doing other stuff currently.

Chataira is not rapid. No more so than anyone else in the domestic system. Maybe 130 or so.
As for the squad for the 2nd match, I would not bet even $1 on it being as you state. A week is a long time in Zim cricket and I think it will be very different.
