And if Ballance doesnt re-crack the england squad in the next twelve months i doubt he will ever again, too much talent coming through. he would need to be something like top two run getters next domestic season.

To be honest im surprised he was in the team for so long, he seems kind of ordinary by premier international standards.

Would be great for us though.

Shame about the AC academy, they seemed to have some decent players in there. David Brent is somebody I’d like to see play some FC cricket this season.

I still think Malcolm Lake could be an option to consider going forward. If he’s in Zimbabwe and he’s willing I’d get him into the FC structure

Nick Welch is on 50* for The Kings, class act as expected whilst no other batsman can get past 30.

I spoke to Nick today and he hopes his international cricketing future will lie with Zimbabwe, although he has a two-year county contract ahead of him.

This is great news. Just out of curiosity how does his situation work in terms of eligibility? I’m assuming he is a dual citizen. So technically can’t he play international and county cricket at the same time as he legally qualifies for both?

I presume he has a Zimbabwe passport. His county career must take precedence for two years, I gather, but after that he is open to anything. Might be best if he can be accepted as an overseas player in county cricket, then he can play both, with Zimbabwe taking precedence when they are playing.

I think Nick knows who's asking the question and would have been inclined to give a safer answer.

Nicks story is a long and complex one.
