In one game he is the best fielder, the next the best bowler, the next the best batsman, mind you whilst he is being say, the best fielder, he goes at 10 an over with the ball and goes for a duck whilst batting. He needs to pick one battle, and for me it should be batting 4 or 5 depending on the format.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 3:52 pmI mean Burl really is the embodiment of bits and pieces. At the moment he’s the most bits and pieces bits and pieces cricket player since bits and pieces were invented.
But then it can’t be easy when you wanted to be a top order batsman but find yourself batting as low as 7 and having to bowl leg spin, which he’s only taken really seriously relatively recently.

that 4 or 5 we are ok in, and thats what all batsmen are fighting for,
that leg spin role is vacant completely.
and persisting at both helps his t20 career and gives him a buffer for failure.
thats the dilemma.

Yep. Our middle order is stacked. Burl isn't going to get any chances at 4 or 5 any time soon.
To get into the team right now in basically any format you need to bat at 1 or 7. So really he's relying on his bowling advancing and becoming more consistent, and he needs to make the most of the limited batting opportunities he gets. He's effectively in direct competition with Raza. In some if not all formats, we probably won't be selecting both of them. Especially as Wes' bowling is improving too.

Wes is a better bowler and batter than Burl. Burly should focus on batting up the order than leg spin. The former makes more sense than him focusing on an even more difficult craft at age 28.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 9:10 amYep. Our middle order is stacked. Re: Pro50 Championship Thread 2021-22
Opening is he best bet right now. If Chivanga progresses well then they might push Jongwe to number 8 and then there will be no space for him.
Right now his leg spin is what's keeping him in the team but that's a risky plan because Mavuta could pick up some form and that's the end of him. Also Jonathan Cambpell is averaging 35 with the bat in List A cricket after 11 games, if he has a solid season he could threaten Burl as well.

Wes is just a generic Dibbly dob offie like 5 others in the team. Burls a leggie and a point of difference
Burl will always be more valuable to zim as a bowler. Even if stats reflect it or not.

Munyonga unlucky to be out on 95. Tiripano gets a 50 having batted at 6 today. Interesting. Dave Houghton must clearly have a lot of faith in his batting.
