[Match Thread] Zimbabwe vs New Zealand (2nd ODI)
Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe vs New Zealand (2nd ODI)
The Taylor bashing is off the mark. No one else passed 42. No one other than Waller passed 20. Whilst Meth was going, BRMT was giving him the strike. A few misses going for the landmark and the finish, I grant, but a very well judged and professional innings. Hardly "very selfish", gargamel.

107 off 105, obviously a bloke taking no risks and playing for himself

Yeah I agree Jemisi. While it would have been nice for him to crunch a couple more boundaries you can't lose sight of the fact that he did score an unbeaten century at better than a run a ball. It was a very good innings.

Parhaps slightly off the mark, I dont know. But equally, Taylor worshipping is doe-eyed, especially when you slip in that "nobody else passed 42". Sounds very much like those ZanuPF chaps and Bob.Jemisi wrote:The Taylor bashing is off the mark. No one else passed 42. No one other than Waller passed 20. Now that he's captain, more than anything elkse is when he needs to be bolder and make the kind of decisions he was lauded for against Bangladesh. Playing for a win that could very much have been possible by a bigger percentage now, not another slight mark to his stats and 2 points higher on his average

I'm not sure why Mpofu is bowling it so short. He and Jarvis were guilty of it in the last match as well.
Much better off bowling it full and straight (or on leg) than short and wide. At least you can set a field for that.
Case in point, Meth bowls it full and almost gets an LBW...

If Taylor had scored 43 off 70 and I'd said nobody else passed 42, my comments may indeed have resembled the nonsense that comes from some quarters in Zim. But he scored 107* off 105. 250% of Waller's score and 500%+ of Meth and Hami's contributions. Fair go mate.Conant wrote:Parhaps slightly off the mark, I dont know. Seriously, what on earth does Zimbabwe have to do to get an LBW decision? Unbelievable.
