Campbell is doing fairly good with the bat, his bowling is crap, still I think he should be on the selectors radar after the retirement of the Big 4.
Mayawo, the WKB is another one who can be considered as a potential replacement for Chakabwa. Madande hasn't looked international quality to me.

Mayavo is pretty much the best gloveman in the country, but his batting has always been poor. Seems to have improved over the last 12 months or so though. He won't be the answer to the Chakaabva-replacement question though.sam_ahm wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 2:26 pmCampbell is doing fairly good with the bat, his bowling is crap, still I think he should be on the selectors radar after the retirement of the Big 4.

Campbell loves 30's and 40's unfortunately. He's never been able to kick on. Hoping he manages it this season.
It's nice to see 3 Overseas here and playing already. From what I understand there is one or two more we may see in the Pro50 and then a few extra that are specifically coming for the Logan Cup at the end of November. I reckon the two Irish lads are just here for the white ball stuff?
Also nice to see pro cricket being played at BAC and Kwekwe again. Masvingo last week and Mutare next week as well. I'm driving south from Harare on Sunday anyway so may have to see if I can call in to watch the Rhinos on route!
Re: PRO50 CHAMPIONSHIP 2022-23
Was good to see the Irish lads playing, although they didn’t perform that great.
Bizarre that Getkate didn’t get a bowl, he should be opening the bowling with that bowling attack. I guess they didn’t need him, Tuskers are on fire at the minute.
Can’t believe the Rhinos match ended in a tie, when Masvaure essentially blocked the first 10 overs I thought it was game over. Great knock from Mavayo and musekiwa to give them a chance of a win.
Very economical bowling spell from Mhlanga on debut, anybody know much about him?

Mhlanga is only about 19 I believe. I don't know anything about him other than randomly appeared in the training squad for the last U19WC but ultimately didn't get selected for the tournament.

Always good to have PJ back! I think ZC should seriously have a discussion with him about his future. Whilst I think everyone can appreciate the hole the big four will leave (Regis now considered part of the big 4) I think maybe we’re underestimating how hard it will be to replace their output from the current next in line guys.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 7:41 amPJ is back for Mountaineers.
Tuskers have two Irish internationals playing for them; Shane Getkate and James McCollum.
Moor would add great experience and would also be a good option to captain the side once Regis retires as well.
I must say I’m a little underwhelmed by the Irish imports, I would have thought/ hoped for some decent county players. Am I being too harsh?

The county season only finished two weeks ago, they are all on holiday still. The better English overseas will be coming mainly for the Logan Cup, which starts towards the end of November.
Oh and people really need to stop pining for PJ.

Fair enough about the county players just finishing their season.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 9:41 pmThe county season only finished two weeks ago, they are all on holiday still. The better English overseas will be coming mainly for the Logan Cup, which starts towards the end of November.

In regard to PJ, I’m realistic in my opinion of him he’s no world beater. But what does the side look like once the big 4 go?
Taking thousands of runs and nearly 30 international hundreds out of the side is going to leave a big hole. Young guns like Wes & Milton are still finding their feet, so who fills these holes?

Yeah I agree completely about the realities of that.jaybro wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 10:52 pmFair enough about the county players just finishing their season.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 9:41 pmThe county season only finished two weeks ago, they are all on holiday still. But PJ has well and truly burnt all his bridges. He's not going to be the answer, whether we want him to be or not.
Re: PRO50 CHAMPIONSHIP 2022-23
Moor is currently in No Man's Land in both countries and disliked by the hierarchy here and by Masakadza in particular. Not enough to exclude him completely, but certainly enough for him not to be in the frame. The fact is he hasn't made consistent runs for a long time. I'm not sure why he has remained front and centre either. There's only one way to do that.

Why do you want Pj back to captain us?jaybro wrote: ↑Fri Oct 07, 2022 9:33 pmAlways good to have PJ back! I think ZC should seriously have a discussion with him about his future. He can’t make even the Irish squad.
He would be depth at best.
