I hope they’ve ordered plenty of food for Prince.

I don’t want to jinx it but a pitch that’s playing nicely plus a bad ball every 1.5 overs. This is a Zimbabwean batsman’s dream

Can someone who is watching tell me whether they are playing well? As in not letting go of scoring opportunities and being the recipient of bad bowling etc

Nice to watch Gumbie play in the right format for him.
Right format for Prince as well.

Great to see Zim playing test cricket again and a wonderful 1st session this has been, The openers need to sink in and build from here.

They’ve played well. I thought Adair in particular bowled very well but our openers played him nicely. Granted the Irish bowling attack is hardly world-class. But it is very very overcast and the ball has been moving. Gumbie looked good throughout. Prince a nervy first hour but grew into it and was looking good before the lunch break too. Hopefully they come back out in a similar mood and can build from here. A 100-run opening partnership would be a dream!

The bowling has been tight without being threatening. The boys have earned their runs. Think there was one delivery where Prince lost his head a little, other than that they’ve kept it together well.

Gumbie goes for 49. Didn’t look overly comfortable since lunch.
