Re: Match Thread: Griqualand West v Zim Provinces
poor end to what i thought can be great boost for zim cricket.they shouldhave chased this total but again collapse need to learn from mistakes and improve from there on. some good performances by chakbova he deserved might be call up for the national team.

Looking for a silver lining to the cloud, here, but the points distribution for this match is curious:
Top of the table now look like this:
Other matches for the week haven't been added to the table yet, so I haven't included them here - but Easterns (4th) were trailing Northerns (5th) when rain interrupted, so that should be declared a draw, while North West (6th) beat 3rd-placed Gauteng by 8 wickets.
Given a good win could get you nearly 20 points, that could have been worse (and Provinces probably deserved more than 1 point, but losing the 1st innings by nearly 100 runs would have hurt them).Griqualand West 10, Zim Provs 1
Top of the table now look like this:
Code: Select all
Pl W L T D A Pts
Griqualand West 5 3 0 0 2 0 62.68
Zim Provs 6 2 3 0 1 0 57.02

Admire Manyumwa and Ed Rainsford make way for Taurai Muzarabani and Tafadzwa Kamungozi in todays 45 over match.
Zim won the toss and put Griqualand into bat, latest score is 67-1 at the start of the 18th over, Muzarabani 1-7.
Unfortunately I am off to work shortly, so will have to check on how many wickets we win by when I get home tonight

How did Duffin keep his place
GriqW 1/67, but very low run rate (3.9ish). I hope we win.

I like your attitude.Train Driver wrote:Unfortunately I am off to work shortly, so will have to check on how many wickets we win by when I get home tonight
Provs may not be taking many wickets, but they're restricting the Griqua scoring quite well, so you never know...

I assume that Rainsford is carrying an injury after not having bowled more than 9 overs in the 3 day game, as for Duffin, he has either got to get through this loss of form or be dropped completely. As we cannot get anywhere in this 45 over competition now I suppose that he ought to play at every opportunity.
Re: Match Thread: Griqualand West v Zim Provinces
Another lame performance with the bat today to lose the 45 over game... Continuing the pattern in this competition of bowling OK, and batting poorly. Regis Chakabva once again top scoring.
