hes only bowled 9 overs champ this game.hhm wrote:I think you guys keep forgetting one thing, Taylor is protecting Jarvis! He wants him to have the least exposure against vicious batting, so as to keep his figures intact. As our so called best bowler, Jarvis should be the be THE one seamer who ALWAYS completes 10 overs! Even against Bangladesh Taylor still protected him. Only the other bowlers get maximum exposure, but he still gets tonked & goes virtually wicketless, despite the protection! That said I think he's been our best bseamer today!
taylor just saves him for the death overs because as he has shown today hes the best of the paceman.
vitori is horrible and dare i say it he always has been.

Re: [Match Thread] New Zealand v Zimbabwe: 3rd ODI
I think Jarvis did pretty well amidst the onslaught. Vitori should be banished. Get well soon Mpofu.
Re: [Match Thread] New Zealand v Zimbabwe: 3rd ODI
Jarvis and the spinners were the only respectable ones today. Vitori should only play against Bangladesh it seems. I think Jarvis will have learnt alot from this tour, let's hope he has as there is no one else back home who could take his place.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Amazing thing is, Vitori still had an over up his sleeve.

Re: [Match Thread] New Zealand v Zimbabwe: 3rd ODI
Wickets for Vitori & Jarvis off the last balls of their efforts!
When you seriously think about it, Utseya's wicket was really the only one we earned(sorry Elton)! Technically, 373/1! Brilliant run out of Ellis, but he sacrificed himself! It gets worse when you consider that Ross & Ryder are not even part of this batting lineup!
It's generally accepted that we'll struggle in Tests, but should be more competitive in ODIs. With these 3 ODI performances, after losing to even more weakened Pak&NZ sides @ home, I don't think that's true anymore. Scores conceded are not worthy of bowlers who should consistently be playing ODIs against Full Members! Is it really true that we cannot put together better? Mupariwa, Mpofu(ok, injured), Rainsford & Panyangara have coped much better, in tougher conditions for seamers, against much better lineups! For how long will people here continue to act as if none of that is true. Must Zimbabwe cricket continue suffer because of certain individuals'(coaches&selectors) loyalty to Jarvis&Vitori
HELP ME UNDERSTAND PLEASE, MAYBE I'M MISSING SOMETHING. Judging what you've seen of him this season, WHAT VALUE DOES JARVIS BRING TO OUR ODI TEAM?
PLEASE CONVINCE ME MATERAILLY!

I SIMPLY DON'T GET IT! He's not taking wickets, which is what his job is, since he's the leader/strike bowler! Instead he's contributing to the pressure the change bowlers/spinners face! And if you're judging him on his containing job, then we can name a list of more than 5 bowlers who can do a better job!eugene wrote:I think Jarvis will have learnt alot from this tour, let's hope he has as there is no one else back home who could take his place.

the funniest thing i ever read on this forum was
"Vitori no matter what should always be first picked" by BRM Taylor.
i hate to ridicule the man as he is a very good poster and is usually quite smart but i literally dropped my jaw when i read that, something ive never done before here.

its not a board game,
he makes batsman very uncomfortable when hes bowling well.
Who else in Zimbabwe can bowl a quick 135+ inswinging yorker to penetrate an international openers middle stump?
someone like mpofu who could well be better than kyle and if not would be a clear number 2, would never be that penetrative, he can be impotent in that sense.
Kyle the sort of guy who can make the breakthrough when no one else does. He is by no means a class act,but he has that x factor..............you can tell.

Re: [Match Thread] New Zealand v Zimbabwe: 3rd ODI
Jarvis has 14 wickets in 4 tests, 18 wickets in 16 ODIs, 6 wickets in 4 T20Is, hardly a lack of wickets. It would be nice if he'd taken 50 by now instead of 38, but he'd be getting compared to Streak if he'd done that.

Plenty here have said, I wonder who you're referring to in particular..........ZIMDOGGY wrote:i hate to ridicule the man as he is a very good poster and is usually quite smart but i literally dropped my jaw when i read that, something ive never done before here.

One of our collegues here had this to say once in response to me(5months ago!):
Persevere we shall, and wrong you will be!I am saddened to see your agenda against Brian Vitori continues and even more saddened that you seem to be taking delight in his quiet series against Pakistan. The kid is 21 and broke world records in his first couple of games for Pete's sake yet you're already claiming that his decline into obscurity was inevitable. It wasn't because of the standard of the Bangladeshi batsmen that Vitori was able to hit the right lines or get it to swing both ways at good pace. He and Jarvis have shown a great deal of potential, and most importantly they have both delivered good results, so they should be persevered with.
