A number of the US players are actually US born. Stephen Taylor was born in Miami (of Jamaican parents), Aaron Jones in Queens, NYC and Sai Mukumalla - the 18 yo who just hit a 120 not out vs UAE was born in New Jersey. I think they have a few other teenagers born in the US of South Asian heritage.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 6:13 amUgh the ‘local player’ thing again….
Although tbf the USA is bad for it

I know. I didn’t say ‘all’.
Will be worse when all the MLC imports qualify later this year though like Plunkett and Chand. They really would be considered mercenaries.

I'm going through their League 2 stats...bear in mind this is all vs teams ranked 14-20:secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 7:28 pmThey are missing all of Divan La Cock (Uni Exams), Wiese (IPL - has not retired), Williams (retired v recently), Louwrens, Lungameni, JJ Smit and Frylinck (all injured).
All would be in their squad if available.
La Cock averages just 20 with the bat
Wiese just 28
Williams 32
Frylink 24
Louwrens 25
Smit 28
IMO these averages are too ordinary to think these guys would make much of a difference to Namibia's prospects.

Really ? I probably had Little knowledge. However if they have come through their domestic system i will consider them as locals like Raza for us or Ben stokes for Englandsecretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 6:28 amA fair amount of the Namibians are Saffers if we are really picky about it!

Wiese, Frylinck and Smit are all also crucial with the ball.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 6:45 amI'm going through their League 2 stats...bear in mind this is all vs teams ranked 14-20:secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 7:28 pmThey are missing all of Divan La Cock (Uni Exams), Wiese (IPL - has not retired), Williams (retired v recently), Louwrens, Lungameni, JJ Smit and Frylinck (all injured).

Re: 2023 World Cup Qualifier discussion
Word here in Namibia is there will be likely two broadcast venues for the #CWCQualifier proper in Zimbabwe -Queens and HSC. Takashinga and BAC will be livestream only, possibly using the same crew as here. So no DRS for the tournament.

They won’t be playing at Takashinga I don’t think. It’s in an even worse state than usual. Presumably the 2nd Harare ground is OH

Frylink and Smit good in bowling. Considering Smit he can clear boundary easily, so he is big miss for NamibiaKriterion_BD wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 6:45 amI'm going through their League 2 stats...bear in mind this is all vs teams ranked 14-20:secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 7:28 pmThey are missing all of Divan La Cock (Uni Exams), Wiese (IPL - has not retired), Williams (retired v recently), Louwrens, Lungameni, JJ Smit and Frylinck (all injured).

USA's Ali Khan took a 7-fer vs Jersey. He took five wickets in his first 16 deliveries...surely that must be the fastest 5 wicket haul in ODI history!
USA clinches their sport for the Qualifiers!!!
Namibia and UAE still in contention but UAE almost certainly through unless they slip up big time vs Jersey.

I think UAE are guaranteed through already. They are doing it on head-to-head rather than NRR, which is fucking idiotic. Also it seems the ICC didn't actually tell anyone including the teams about itKriterion_BD wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 7:28 pmUSA's Ali Khan took a 7-fer vs Jersey. Associate twitter is furious lol. Also furious about the apparently horrendous umpiring. And apparently Ali Khan and the Americans were cunts during play
