Netherlands ODI Series - Discussion
Re: Netherlands ODI Series - Discussion
Should be an exciting series guys. Great to see a full strength squad. Netherlands on the other hand would desperately miss De Leede.

Regis yes, but imagine BT opening with Kaia and this middle orderTapsC2 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 5:18 amHow do you guys rate this current squad? On paper have we had a squad this strong since 2004? Not a perfect squad at all but I'm trying think which post-2004 period we would say could match the squad. Chakabva is the obvious miss but besides him I can't think of any changes I would make
With a bit of luck and some belief I think they could pull off some wins against decent opposition.

Yeah it’s a good debate (I’m actually planning on writing a comparison once the actual CWCQ squad is named)Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 6:51 amThe 2018 WCQ squad was probably just as strong as this squad and I would argue even stronger.
I would also argue the 2018 side was stronger ON PAPER but the problem with that squad was that all the batsman apart from BT & Raza were out of form & misfired throughout the tournament.
The bowlers too weren’t really firing either, Vitori got suspended, Chatara got injured, Jarvis out of form & even Cremer struggled for wickets throughout the tournament as well.

This squad is much more durable and multi faceted with Burl Raza and madhevere being able to bowl
Also the inclusion of Ballance is just massive

Wowee that's a big call , 2 players are extremely fortunate to be there.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 5:56 amYes, one of the best squads picked in recent times. It helps that everyone is available. Every one who deserves to be there is there, and everyone who doesn't isn't.

I actually agree with Crimson on this one

At least Ireland are showing that our recent performances when touring Bangladesh were par for the course. I personally hate the Irish team, love it when they lose and love it even more when we beat them.

Haha I have to agree on Ireland mate. Although some of their newer players that have come through seem less annoying than the previous generation.
Re: Netherlands ODI Series - Discussion
Previous generation under porterfield were always angry as they felt they are equally good as zimbabwe Bangladesh of those times yet the funding and the games they get is lesser than these two nations.therefore you would always feel they were very rough and agressive against these two teams..also i have never ever seen porterfield smile in my 15 years of following Irish cricket. But now they get good games all the time .infact better fixtures than zimbabwe and Afghanistan one can arguesecretzimbo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 18, 2023 6:47 pmHaha I have to agree on Ireland mate.
