We have now officially reached the stage where Richie or Timmy could turn themselves into the new forum untouchables in a blink.
"Out of form and can't buy a run? Yeah, but remember that gritty 35 off 65 balls Afghanistan!"

Here's the list of records we don't want to break.

Hopefully we can tick off all of these as the innings progresses, but I'm not overly confident given Maruma is not even off the mark yet and there's no recognised batsmen to come...

Zimbabwe's lowest ODI scores:

35 18.0 1.94 1 v Sri Lanka Harare 25 Apr 2004 ODI # 2122
38 15.4 2.42 1 v Sri Lanka Colombo (SSC) 8 Dec 2001 ODI # 1776
44 24.5 1.77 1 v Bangladesh Chittagong 3 Nov 2009 ODI # 2920
65 24.3 2.65 2 v India Harare 29 Aug 2005 ODI # 2274
67 31.0 2.16 1 v Sri Lanka Harare 22 Nov 2008 ODI # 2780
69 22.5 3.02 2 v Kenya Harare 1 Mar 2006 ODI # 2343
80 28.2 2.82 2 v Sri Lanka Dhaka 12 Jan 2009 ODI # 2791
85 30.1 2.81 1 v West Indies Ahmedabad 8 Oct 2006 ODI # 2424
92 24.5 3.70 1 v England Bristol 6 Jul 2003 ODI # 2034
94 31.4 2.96 2 v Pakistan Sharjah 6 Apr 1997 ODI # 1192

Lowest ODI scores against associates:

Canada 67 24.4 2.71 1 v Netherlands King City (NW) 29 Aug 2013 ODI # 3407
Zimbabwe 69 22.5 3.02 2 v Kenya Harare 1 Mar 2006 ODI # 2343
Afghanistan 88 27.5 3.16 2 v Kenya Nairobi (Gym) 7 Oct 2010 ODI # 3052
Kenya 89 37.5 2.35 1 v Afghanistan Sharjah 2 Oct 2013 ODI # 3417
Netherlands 91 26.4 3.41 1 v Bermuda Benoni 2 Dec 2006 ODI # 2456

I can't remember exactly when, but I think a few months ago I posted a comparison of us and Bangladesh since our return to Test cricket. And we had none or very few "complete embarassments", scores under 150 or thereabouts. And only a handful this decade in all.

It would be really nice if these two could put on 80 or 90 or so and just make things less of a complete embarrassment.

This is really like following the score of a typical Rocks' match, Richie apparently batting with ease while everyone around him can't hit it off the square. Do I need to add that despite his heroics the Rocks would inevetably go on to loose?

This series is a complete write off. 2-2 against Afghanistan is shocking. Let the history books record that as being in the Chingoka era

The new era can start with Zimbabwe's shock Test win against South Africa, further cementing Zimbabwe's position as a titan of Test cricket 8-)
