I understand that mate lol that’s pretty basic cricket, but again you didn’t watch the actual game so I don’t know why how how you can be arguing with someone that watched itKriterion_BD wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:16 am
That gap in the covers is intentionally present because captains want to entice the batsmen to drive in the hopes that a 3 or 4 man slips cordon can capitalize on the outside edge.
I don't deny that a lot of captains might pull a slip or two if the ball isn't moving and the opposition gets 3 or 4 boundaries in the first few overs. However, I think thats needlessly defensive so early in a Test match.

Good points CA, Hashmatullah has shown the value of a 250- ball hundred type innings, TaspC mentioned it earlier as well.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:23 amIf we can't get them out quickly this morning, I hope they bat much longer than necessary and eat up time available. We badly need KK and PM to consume a lot of time if we need to get a draw here.

Early wickets this morning are obviously vital, but containment is key too, as CA said the longer we make them bat for their runs will take time out of the game.
The difference between them declaring before tea at 550 or making them bat into tomorrow to reach such a target is massive.
Tiripano needs a big day, doesn’t even need to take many wickets, just needs to keep runs down and make them work for it.

It must be demoralizing to let Asghar score so many runs. Although I haven't watched any action, he is a guy who usually gives a chance or two every 25 balls he faces. So...
