When you seriously think about it, Utseya's wicket was really the only one we earned(sorry Elton)! Technically, 373/1! Brilliant run out of Ellis, but he sacrificed himself! It gets worse when you consider that Ross & Ryder are not even part of this batting lineup!

It's generally accepted that we'll struggle in Tests, but should be more competitive in ODIs. With these 3 ODI performances, after losing to even more weakened Pak&NZ sides @ home, I don't think that's true anymore. Scores conceded are not worthy of bowlers who should consistently be playing ODIs against Full Members! Is it really true that we cannot put together better? Mupariwa, Mpofu(ok, injured), Rainsford & Panyangara have coped much better, in tougher conditions for seamers, against much better lineups! For how long will people here continue to act as if none of that is true. Must Zimbabwe cricket continue suffer because of certain individuals'(coaches&selectors) loyalty to Jarvis&Vitori :!: :?:
eugene wrote:I think Jarvis will have learnt alot from this tour, let's hope he has as there is no one else back home who could take his place.
I SIMPLY DON'T GET IT! He's not taking wickets, which is what his job is, since he's the leader/strike bowler! Instead he's contributing to the pressure the change bowlers/spinners face! And if you're judging him on his containing job, then we can name a list of more than 5 bowlers who can do a better job!

HELP ME UNDERSTAND PLEASE, MAYBE I'M MISSING SOMETHING. Judging what you've seen of him this season, WHAT VALUE DOES JARVIS BRING TO OUR ODI TEAM?

PLEASE CONVINCE ME MATERAILLY!

Perhaps you should spend some time watching Jarvis bowl instead of writing monologue's on this forum.

.....and his CV is full of instances where those assets have worked to his and Zimbabwe's advantage more than countless other player who lack them :?
Jemisi wrote:Jarvis has 14 wickets in 4 tests, 18 wickets in 16 ODIs, 6 wickets in 4 T20Is, hardly a lack of wickets. It would be nice if he'd taken 50 by now instead of 38, but he'd be getting compared to Streak if he'd done that.
I couldn't agree more! When I look at his magnificent average, how superior his economy rate is, and just how much he towers over our fringe & part-time bowlers, I see a star in the making!

So Gavin Rennie is Zimbabwe's best bowler then?

Well, we've survived two overs without a runout. Quite disciplined.

....and I'm the one accused of not paying attention to detail!

I've seen Jarvis bowl. He's the one bowler I give acute attention to, right down to the last detail - speed info for his every delivery etc. He serves up boundary balls left, right & centre! Very average. I've seen better bwolers whove shown greater potential at an even younger age - Rainsford, Olonga, Nkala, Chigs, Watambwa, Matambanadzo, Panyangara, Hondo! And they all have better ODI records than him, and I don;t see Jarvis ever doing better than most of them! Save this and get back to me at the end of 2014! NOthing will have changed! It will take remarkable performances for him to right his records, and with the opposition coming up, it does not look promising!

Nonetheless, Tino played well and briefly showed the merits of using natural openers where we can. Unfortunate runout.

Captan gets something right today - moved up the order.
