He's mostly right though, smart guy, hopefully he'll keep his job for another 10 years. If they set up a Committee to investigate the failure with a bunch more smart guys, they can hopefully really get to the bottom of it. Then another committee to figure out how to rectify it, and then of course realize it's probably a little late for February. Then shelve it until the next WC, then remember 4 months before that WC starts and then hope for a miracle. Of course they'll need funding as well.
There's the annual, highly prestigious U18 Nuffield Week starting in December, schoolboy stuff so not important at all, what's important is the U19 WC so all you need is 3 months of nets and then the boys will be good to go. There are currently no plans about this U18 tour. We've been invited but no-one knows if ZC are planning to send a team or not, with just over a month to go!!! They definitely don't have the money so if they do decide at the last minute they will be looking to parents to dig deep once again at a moment's notice to fund it, and of course pay for the "development" players whose parents won't even contribute $1 and have never even seen a cricket pitch or a bat or ball.
If they decide at the last minute they'll probably have trials on unprepared pitches and invite 60 players from as far afield as Gokwe, with no track record or stats whatsoever and have selectors and coaches punting for them. There surely has to be at least 4 Brian Laras out there somewhere who have been secretly practicing daily and are about to unleash their monumental talent upon the cricketing world. They'll pick at least 4 wrong players and once again hope for the best.
Surely preparation for the next WC starts with Nuffield week? Oh they don't call it that anymore, it's now Coca Cola Week or something, way too many bad memories for everyone.

Silence... in his head it was the vehicle's fault.
fair analogy - you are right. It really doesn't matter how high up (Makoni) or low down (delivery driver)on the work ladder ... black Zimbabweans, particularly those too stupid to have found a way out of zim yet, really have no fekking clue at all, do they?

i had forgotten just how stupid ... i'm packing up my hopes into my matchbox and heading outside for a smoke...
