If you had to pick a combined Australia Proteas team which South African would make the side?

I've been watching their franchise T20, our franchise teams would not disgrace themselves.

I was just going through some tweets and there is a lot of talk about Bavuma, if he deserved to be in the side or not or if he is there because of transformation targets, particularly in T20 format and all that and I feel for Bavuma because he is such a good cricketer but was playing the wrong format.

Of course for Africans it is a very sensitive topic and I do not have enough understanding as an outsider, but I were to think about it, I'm all for transformation but transformation at grass root level, at club level, domestic level so that we get enough colored cricketers in the team purely on merit basis. Players like Ntini, Rabada, Ngidi as black africans and players Amla, Duminy and the likes in colored quota.

In National team, transformation should not be forced but it should happen gradually as part of the transformation that we see in levels below. Where we get merited coloured players.

Look at Bavuma for example, it is not good even for him as a player to go through all this. Philander was one of the best RSA have produced and still it must have been so tough for him to go through all that happened in 2015 WC semi final when he was picked ahead of Abbott.

I don't think it is doing the players any good.

Looking forward to the Aus v RSA test series here in Oz, I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since they toured here. It’s an absolute disgrace and again another example of the awful knock effects from the Big 3 money grab.

But let’s focus on the cricket, RSA have won the last 3 series here in Australia and there have been some resounding defeats in that time and some big scalps along the way (Ponting etc retiring)

I’m not sure RSA have the batting this time around to score the runs they did on the last few visits, whilst their bowling is just as strong despite not having Steyn, Morkel & Vernon, but as I said I am concerned about their batting.

The pitches in Brisbane & most likely Melbourne will suit their bowlers, Sydney is a bit of a road these days but should still make for some great test cricket.

Thinking of heading down for Day 1 or 2 at the Gabba. Not sure yet. Just hope it will be a good competitive series. Be nice if SA can get the series win.

I’ve never seen such a pathetic Protea batting lineup, honestly the techniques are awful I don’t know how they came up with this side.

Elgar looks like he might be passed it, not sure about his mate Erwee he looks solid but not sure he has the stroke range to score enough test runs.

The middle order is a disaster, Rassie batting at 3’ he’s not up to it. Bavuma now over 50 tests with an average of 34 and one century just shows the issues they have.

The less said about Zondo the better, seriously how the hell is he in the side? Also why do they think it’s a good idea to play an extra bowler when their tail is already long and their batting lineup is so fragile?

I know Sloan & Googly will be able to rattle off names better than I, but I reckon you could pick a better batting lineup from the guys that haven’t been selected on tour.

Unfortunately for them two players who should be mainstays of their batting lineup aren’t on tour. Markram is still horribly out of sorts, but considering how much time they’ve invested in him over the pass four years, they would have expected him to be the premier batsman of this side now.

Keegan Petersen is out with injury, but he had his truffles in England this year. I find it surprising that they can’t find 6 capable batsman when you’d think the conditions they play in at home should stead them well for facing the likes of England & Australia.

Forget about Amla and AB, they were obviously world class, but even Faf, JP Duminy were underrated, they were much better than the current lot and people are realizing that now.
